For sure, but I don't think Adams is concerned about the playoff drought as much as the pundits.
He has a timeline agreed upon with Pegula, and it was likely conceived by Granato, so in their minds, they might feel they are right on schedule.
There is no denying that moves could have been made to improve this team in the areas you have been addressing this off-season, and even back to the trade deadline, and I think we saw Adams look into those options, weigh the costs, and decide that due to the high cost of acquiring help, the long-term goals of the team were better served not paying that price at this time.
Adams is looking for upgrades with lengthy team control that fall within an age range that works with the current core's age. Half the teams in the league are looking for the exact same type of players, so cost is probably skyhigh.
Honestly, I don't think any of the players available have fit this teams needs enough to justify the cost to acquire either, so I understand why Adams hasn't pulled the trigger on a deal for an upgrade. All I hope is that *if* the perfect fit does become available, he will try to put together an offer that the other team can't refuse, while at the same time not crippling the Sabres future.
