“necessity”
It's of their own doing, because they aren't willing to make decisions on Levi and Johnson. Levi should go to Rochester for a little bit, but they won't do it. And if RJ is up for good (which seems correct), they need to waive Bryson and free up the roster spot. And then call up a forward, whether it is Biro, Kulich, Rosen, or Rousek.

The 11-7 thing with 3 goalies is just an absolute embarrassment. Afraid to hurt Devon Levi’s feelings.

It’s such an easy call. Levi down, Kulich or Rosen up. Sit Clifton down. If Clifton makes a stink, we’ll find a partner for him. Jokiharju’s emergence has allowed for it.

Hell, if we’re out of it maybe EJ is willing to go back to Colorado or something if we hold onto half his salary. Just figure something out. A hard decision needs to be made.
Its not that big of a deal. Not really worth flipping out about it.

What does EDM have that they could give us to make it worth saving their season and ruining ours by giving them our best goalie?
I would work out a trade for Ryan McLeod, send them Comrie and Krebs if they want, but the trade value would be skewed in their favor. McLeod has more grit and physicality than Krebs, without the dumb. Comrie plus a pick or lesser FW prospect...whatever. McLeod is a good target though.

These might be minor moves in the big scheme, but they really do seem like no brainers that should have happened by now.

I mean, if Levi isn't starting why not "paper" waive him to Rochester? It doesn't seem, to me at least, that it should be this complicated.

Is Olofsson working himself out of the dog house?

6 points in his last 5 games.

Has made some nice plays leading to goals. Last night he was forechecking almost stole the puck on the EN but didn't pay attention to his defensive play.

The best we can hope for is he starts to produce and maybe a team like LV takes him to play with Eichel. Salary cap is a big issue with Olofsson making 4.75m next year too.

Always thought Conor Garland for Olofsson makes sense if Canucks retain 25% Garland brings some grit the team needs and can chip in some points too.

I like Garland but his contract is a bit of an albatross even at 25% retained. Maybe they send us a 3rd round pick too...not sure what the value is there.

Rosen and Kulich both knocking on the door. Sabres are a quarter into the season and their O is sputtering. KA has his work cut out for him. How long can you leave these guys stashed in the AHL?

Do they drop Rosen next to Jost-VO. Would he just drop into Girgenson's spot?

Looks like they are still short an F unless Greenway can go.

Lets get this roster management, 11/7, Levi, trying to be cute, nonsense over with!

some think he's not allowed to go down (as part of his signing agreement), it needs to be asked as it is hurting the team.

Was half expecting Adams to call up both Kulich/Rosen simply so he didn't have to make a decision, which seems like his m.o. recently.

Edit: delete "recently"

The value is bad. We made the VO bed and now we're sleeping in it but with plenty of cap space this year, they should just ride it out and move along instead of spending assets or stringing along another shit contract. The time to move VO was last deadline or the summer but now he isn't even scoring goals (or trying for that matter).

I don’t think he has any value still but I’ve actually liked Vic’s game the last 4 or so. Just need him to stay like this or even go on one of his trademark red hot months until Tage or Quinner get back.

Yes he is visibly playing better.

This ain’t rocket surgery.

Send Levi down to work on his fundamentals and get reps.

Give UPL 80% of the starts

I agree that he has little to no value right now. Tyler Toffoli, a better all around winger who makes less money than Olofsson, returned a middle six-winger and a 3rd rd pick. Maybe if Olofsson continues to play well, he would have some value at the deadline. Then again, if he is playing well and we are in the race for the playoffs, why would we move him?

I think the reality is that Olofsson has done over the last 5 games what he has always done. He is a streaky offensive player who is mostly sound defensively but who lacks aggressiveness and physicality. When he is not producing offensively, as sometimes occurs for long stretches, it seems like he is not making a positive contribution. Yet, there have consistently been multiple 2-3 week stretches per season over his career where he is our most, or one of our most, productive offensive players. The question has always been: do you get enough out of Olofsson during the periods where he is not productive offensively in order to justify patiently waiting for him to get on an offensive role? If we had better veteran depth than we currently have, the answer to that question would probably be "no, you don't get enough when he isn't producing". Right now though, we don't have enough veteran depth to warrant not playing him. Plus, he might just be going on one of his short-term heaters.

Olofsson is an UFA after this season. Garland has 2 more seasons after this so would make zero sense to acquire him
We need bottom 6 players. He would fit on the 3rd line nicely. Its not a cap dumb. Not sure why you think because he has 2 seasons left its a bad trade. Thats the point of Vancouver retaining.
At 3.5 Garland is worth it for a 3rd line player with some grit that this team doesn't have.
