It's super great that they're willingly handicapping themselves with this 11/7 BS because they're too stubborn to bench EJ even though he stinks and Ryan Johnson has done the best job out of any of their young guys in terms of coming up and making an immediate impact.

Weird timing to say EJ stinks.

He hasn't at all by the way.

neither Clifton nor the Johnsons should be sitting

Sammy is the one who needs his ass stapled to a seat in the press box. Sammy has gone full on Richard Smehlik as of late

Im ecstatic. But should i be worried that he worked too hard to come back early from an injury caused from working out too hard??
Recovery time for his surgery is 4-6 months. He’s 4 months out at the moment. Not expected to fully participate in practice for a few more weeks.

So maybe 5 months by the time he fully returns? That’s seems ok and not rushed.

Too early in the season but it would be tempting to see what Edmonton would offer for Comrie.

Not sure you could pry a first from them but rumor has it they are desperate.

I'm sure KA has called Edmonton about it...just to say how happy he is with three good goalies.

Sorry for the lame snark. Seriously though, before the season started I posted about how all KA has to do is wait for a couple injured goalies or a team to get desperate and sell high. Comrie to Edmonton seems like a no-brainer. Sure, maybe they don't want him but it shouldn't be hard to trade him somewhere.

This organization is in desperate need of someone who can make a decision. The GM and Coach both default to “kick it down the road and do nothing”. You want to know why this team isn’t better? Because they can’t make easy decisions let alone a hard one. It has to change. We’re just wasting the time they’re happy to waste.

Levi should be the 1A in Rochester. But that would mean admitting their “plan” was a mistake. Send him down.

Why is Bryson here to be an 8th D? Waive him.

Start alternating Clifton and E Johnson in the pressbox

Make some easy decisions and prevent these goddamned messes that are derailing another season.

I agree but I don't know how much that would actually help the team, maybe marginally. They need their top players to be consistent top players. Sure, some bottom pairing shuffling and a F here and there will keep guys sharp and fresh but you need more consistency from Dahlin and Power, Tuch Cozens and Skinner. Winger depth was a known concern going into the season but nobody has seen a real opportunity outside of Benson. There seems to be a lot of low hanging fruit.

These were just the No brainer should have been done already and would have been by even marginally competent people moves.

more advanced moves like fixing the power play or filling out an NHL roster are too much to ask for.

If Tuch, Skinner, Mitts, Cozens, Dahlin and Sammy bring their A games. It shouldn't matter if they go with 12/8 or 11/7.

As for sitting EJ and staying with 6 dmen.....

He plays the lion's share of PK minutes. Only Sammy is near him. Someone has to replace that if he sits. It's doable but not necessarily the best idea. The conversation about sitting EJ rarely includes the wider impact of removing him.

Playing 7 dmen can also take pressure off individual dmen at 5v5. Power, Ryan Johnson and Joker played around 12mins with Clifton/E.Johnson getting around 8mins last game vs the Hawks.

Alright. For right this second, I'm assuming that no trades are happening in the NHL for at least another month or two. Everyone is nuts-to-butts to the cap or hasn't given up yet.

This is what I would do. I doubt this is what Adams would do, but hey.......

1.) Demote Levi. Enough is enough. See if you can find an AHL deal for Cooley, as I want Levi with the grizzled vet in Ticker.
2.) Demote Krebs while you still can and hope he can find his form down there.
3.) Demote Johnson. He got TEN minutes of ice time tonight -- I'd rather him get 20 per night in Rochester developing.
4.) Promote Rousek. Has speed and tenacity and is defensively reliable, can play 3rd line.
5.) Promote either Rosen or Kulich -- don't care which. Give whichever one comes up our training wheels.....they're here to help PP2.
6.) VO, meet the press box again. I haven't hated you the past couple of games, but it's not like you add a whole lot.

Skinner-Cozens-Tuch
JJP-Mitts-Benson
Greenway-Jost-Rousek
Okposo-Zem-Amerk

PP1:
Tuch in front, JJP in the right trigger, Mitts and Skinner actually move between left dot and bumper. Dahlin point.

PP2:
Greenway in front, Benson in the bumper, Amerk du jour at the right trigger, Cozens at the left trigger, Power on point.

Is any of this actually going to happen? Probably not.

But it's a reasonable take on what I think should be done, assuming no one is trading right now.

You lost me at demote Johnson. Him getting 10 minutes is Granato's mistake. He has not shown us anything to indicate he is NOT ready.

Granato isn't getting fired. If the choice is him playing 10 min here or 20 min in Rochester, I choose the latter right now.
I agree. I just wish they would demote EJ or Clifton and give RyJo more minutes but doesn't look like thats gonna happen..

Its a shame because the kid looks NHL ready

If EJ gets waived/demoted........good luck getting ANY respected NHL vet to sign here in the near future. EJ is one of the more respected guys anywhere, and straight-up waiving him would be an absolute mistake (unless he asked for it).

Clifton's been playing his off-hand more often than not and I believe that it's affecting his play. Right-handed defensemen aren't asked to play the left side very often at all. I wouldn't mind him riding the pine for a game or two.......but I doubt that's happening.

Never said anything about waiving EJ.. more so meant just have him sit every once in awhile is all.

And you know Donny isn't going to sit Clifton... That's is FA signing.

Idk its all f***ed right now

They're almost 20 games in, so I think we have a good idea of where they are/how good they are and they are definitely not good enough. They are at best a 500 team which means they'll miss the playoffs again. Unbelievable.
