Change of subject, but does anyone know if the Robinson trade condition was 45 games here or 45 games overall? If it was games here, I think he can only max out at 44 including today's game.

*Conditions: Columbus will receive the pick only if Robinson plays 45 games in the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

This is the wording on the trade, so I believe it is 45 games in Buffalo.

I think the team is close, with basically all improvement needed in the bottom 6 forwards. Get 2 legit bottom 6 guys and I'll be pretty happy with the group. I would love to see a big change in the top line, but I just don't think it's realistic.
I have been pretty high on Joker all season but this last game shows we need a bona-fide top rd handedness be damned, maybe there is a team aging out or going into or already in a rebuild phase where adding to Joker in a d for d swap

They still need another defenseman and a forward who can kick Tage and Cozens in the ass when they suck to start the year.

Thoughts on our WHL 2019ers:

Byram: Steve Bernier? in hot, then complete zero since. Away from Dahlin, there's zero offensive impact, and even with Dahlin, it was hit and miss.

Cozens: is he hurt? Zero impact down the stretch, in an already scary bad year. 6yx7mil left. He looks like the guy I wasn't excited about picking. Fast, big, can't handle the puck or make a play.

Krebs: has no role. hasn't translated his prospect qualities to the nhl yet. what do we do? He has intangibles I've always defend, but sadly on the ice, he eventually needs to contribute more than potential.

@Fezzy126 @joshjull @Chainshot

Gimme your takes, gents.

I do not like how they've used Krebs. There were opportunities to send him down to work on his game and they chose not to. At this point, he's Temu Curtis Lazar. And by used, I'm not talking about his linemates. I have no issue with what they did as Gus-Krebs-Okie, I have issues with how they didn't work on his game in Rochester when they had an opportunity. Maybe with a coach who has defined roles, he'll be better, but the stupid creeps in even now, it's never left him. The dumb always comes back and I put that on the coaching trying to get these guys to be all offense.

Cozens I have less issue with. That said, he did some of the damage to himself by getting his ass beat by Hathaway and then wound up in the fishbowl. Him being unproductive was part of them failing in December for sure. Since then, he's had a better second half. And yet them reuniting Quinn-DC-JJP was also something I wonder at. And having Mitts to rotate up and move Cozens onto the wing was a thing they can't do any more.

Byram looks like the guy I thought he was with Colorado. They don't have the partner to play with him so that he can be a rover. Why they went out and got him remains a mystery to me, his skills are not what they needed.

100% on all of it

Acquiring nice pieces is the easy part. Figuring out roles, developing young players, and bringing in the right guys to shape the roster into a contender is the tough part. There isn't a chance in the world Granato is getting this team to contender level. Im fearful we'll peak at a WC team under him and Adams. Good enough to keep some optimism alive, but not good enough to turn them into a powerhouse.

Oh well, potentially better than what we've had, but unless changes are made in management- we're always going to be hoping for more.

To paraphrase Cartman from the Panderverse episode: "Put a mobile defenseman in it, and make him a lefty."

A reminder: with few exceptions almost nobody on our entire current roster has ever played a single second in their entire pro careers for a legitament NHL coach and staff.
That's a bit of an overstatement.

Tuch, Krebs, Tage, Skinner, Greenway, Clifton, Byram, Comrie, Jost, Robinson......that's 10 skaters that have played many seconds with legit NHL coaches.

I went and got sickened by looking at other boards advocating trading by pieces for idiots like brady chackook . Add smart physical power forwards that inspire and can intimidate BACK every time they are pushed to give the pansies we keep that can change and gut out wins when needed without being cheap punks like thackooks and even pietrangelo types. We are close w right gm and coach. Don't F it up

Aside from the obvious need for a coaching change, you gotta go get someone who just f***ing hates to lose in this group. Just a miserable son a bitch. He can be as toxic as f***.

You can saw what you want about Jack Eichel, guy f***ing hated to lose. Same with Ryan O'Reilly.

Get a real front office, get a real coach, and get some guys who just f***ing hate to lose.

The frathouse of a friendship Adams created was a culture change, but its a culture that has accepted losing as OK. Give me some guys who will make that place a miserable place to be when there's a L on the board.

I think finding guys that know how to deal with pressure and expectations might be a lot more important than guys that seemingly hate to lose. This group seems to play better when there is less pressure and they fold in the face of pressure. I think that might be the bigger culture/intangible issue that they need to address.

But, it is hard for fans and media to have a great handle on exactly what the intangible issues are in the room.
