I would assume that means Luukkonen is well enough to practice and that they are dented enough on the blueline to require another body.

Gross.Jeff Marek on 32TP: "You know what team I wonder about with Scott Laughton? The Buffalo Sabres. That's a team that needs maybe a different veteran mix, needs to be a little tougher..."
Friedman: "Yea, a Krebs or something like that, I assume +, that's the kind of thing I can see"
f***. THAT.
People give skinner too much credit when he’s producing and give him too much blame when he’s not. He’s not that impactful on his own, never has been. He’s a first line complimentary forward. What skills Skinner has that made him effective at scoring are starting to erode. His skating is just not there - it was flagging before he missed time injured and it is even worse now. His defense is suspect as ever, but he isn't a disruptive player on the forecheck any longer and can't get separation to get shots away. He's all but abandoned shooting on the backhand and is regularly moving out of prime scoring areas with the puck on his stick. His passing has always been one do the weaker parts of his overall game and remains so.
So he needs someone to cover for him defensively AND someone to transition the puck into the offensive zone AND someone to win the puck for him to shoot. It seems doubtful that he's going to surge back to previous levels. Age comes for us all and professionally, the age wall is right in Skinner's face.

Lots to fix, but having Bryson, Stillman, and Clague in Rochester is as much defensive depth as the team has had in forever. If only Regier had it in 2006.....
And overestimating what Jeff skinner brings to a lineup doesn’t reverse itself at this stage of a career either. He has slowed considerably. That usually doesn’t reverse itself at this stage of a career.
yeah do we know what Skinners injury was? He was his usual streaky self before, but since has zero burst.
Pretty sure it was from this hityeah do we know what Skinners injury was? He was his usual streaky self before, but since has zero burst.
He was centering Benson and Peterka at practice today... so should be put up or shut up for a lot of peopleCan we put Krebs on a line with someone decent to see what he is capable of? maybe he looks good and we can trade him.
When Skinner is dialed in and producing, he's very much impactful on his own. He creates offense for himself and his linemates, and he's often a catalyst for PP opportunities as he draws penalties. It's actually a very easy to tell when Skinner is on and when he's not, much more than anybody on the team. The problem is that he's too inconsistent with that, and it's such a stark difference between the Two Tales of Jeff.People give skinner too much credit when he’s producing and give him too much blame when he’s not. He’s not that impactful on his own, never has been. He’s a first line complimentary forward.
Power for Andersson. Straight up.
Can't wait till you realize Power is shit and you'll be banging your head right next to me. Saying only 4 more years of 8.25 millYes. Get rid of our second best D for a new second best D. Damn that incremental improvement in one spot at the cost of the same spot could be worth a tenth of a win!
We want to add to the roster. Not trade 7 years for 2 just because you can’t remember that Dahlin was total shit everywhere but the assist column until year 5. Power is stuck with Joker and less for two years in impossible minutes and we should totally assume he’s gotta go instead of being supported by his organization. God knows it’s never blown up in our f***ing faces repeatedly.
Hoping/wishing Power will become this physical force will only lead to disappointment. Yes, his frame will eventually fill out. But I don't think he has the disposition or the desire to become this physical-style defenseman. As soon as Power figures out he needs to be more physical and thus fills out his 6’6 frame, he’ll be everything we want him to be. His flaws derive from his tentative playing style and not much else.
I have faith he’ll turn it around…eventually
