Don't think we can afford 4 forwards over 7 million a year...and Mitts has made the case to make 7million plus as our best forward. Gotta move Cozens or Mitts.
yes we can.
looking ahead for 25/26 .. lets assume we have a $91M cap
If you split is by 4/7 for 14F and 3/7 for G/D thats a 52/39 split
For F--
say 4 f avg $8M cap foe 32M (Skinner, Tage, Mitts, Cozens)
say 6 F are on ELC/$1M for $6M total (Benson, Kulich, Savoie, Ostlund, Rosen, another F)
that leave $13M for 4F (tuck 4.75, say JPP and Quinn get 2 yr bridges at $3.5M each, another player for 1.25M)
the team could go just 13F and take that 1.25 and then the 1.5M left for 6F and and residual from the top 4 and pool that to resign Greenway at $3M per
for D and G for $39M
Sam, Power, Clifton, Dahlin at $27M
RyJo $2M
RD $4.5M
UPL $3.5M
Levi $2M
In 26/27 you have Benson ending his ELC, Clifton replaced by an ELC prospect, Tuch resigned using most of clifton cap space). the cap increase should cover Benson bridge and an ELC replacement
you can similarly do this if you think the bottom 9, bottom 5F, back G, and 6/7 Dman make up about $11M in space).
the rest gets split 60/40 for 9F, 5D, 1 G
with $90M cap thats $80M for those 15 players that include some ELCs
summer 2027 skinner comes off and cap increase goes to bridges/ELCs ending (Levi, JPP, Quinn, Savoie, Ostlund, Kulich, RyJo, others)
Of course you might not have those players and may trade some for other positions.
The cap will be tight
Im fine trading one of those 3F for a younger RD who can be a solid mid pair filling that $4M or so role i have listed for 2026 summer. guy and then Ostlund replaces Tage/Cozens/Mitts at one of the center roles.
In 2026 and 2027 they could decide among their young F and trade some for picks/prospects and pay some of them more
