Roster Thread (2023-2024 Season)

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. They will say it was giving others a chance to see him in an expanded role or some such.

I would expect him to pass through without being claimed if that is the move.
 
Do the Sabres have to be in compliance by noon tomorrow (Thursday) or is there a different time limit?

I'm fascinated to see what shenanigans GMKA comes up with to cover for all the issues.
 
I’m ready to move Skinner. I really do think it’s something in the water with him. 1,000 games without a playoff game cannot be purely luck. One of the worst defensive players I’ve ever seen too.

It will shock the team and roster enough to maybe know that nobody is untouchable. We have enough prospects in the bank to replace him. Unfortunately that will be an offseason move and Terry will refuse to retain so we won’t get any takers.

Well isn't Skinner practically "untouchable" with a NMC?

if Levi isn’t playing they could do a paper transaction or do thr same with RyJo

No one will take Skinner. Why would they at 9 million? You would have to trade your 1st round pick with him to get rid of him.

I’m not saying it’s strictly “his fault” as much as you’d like to simplify it as that. I think he’s part of the problem and makes a f*** ton of money and this group (or any group he’s been in) obviously hasn’t worked with him in it.

Obviously it will be hard near impossible to get rid of him. But I’m not the GM of the Sabres to figure that out

Need Skinner to waive that pesky NMC of his. Not sure on the amount of suitors that can A. take on even some of his contract and B. be an attractive destination for Skinner to waive for. Then there's the conservative nature of Adams of being a risk averse in making moves for guys.

I'm not entirely sure the organization feels he's a player that it's addition by subtraction to be able to take such a hit in value of the player just to get him off the roster.

The buyout is very workable this offseason. Any one of Quinn, Peterka, Benson,, Kulich, Savoie or some other of our many young wingers could take Skinner's spot. All of our top end guys are already singed to their big contracts. The cap will also be going up the next couple of years too.

I would be very easy to buy out Skinner this offseason. Very easy. I say rip that band aid off sooner rather than later.

It’s an extra year of $2 million that I’d rather avoid. The guy still nets 30+ so he’s far from useless.
