So the Rangers just got a decent return for some milquetoast expiring UFAs?
Can’t Believe they got basically a 2nd for Lindgren. They probably flip de Haan tol

and we just scored a goal putting us a step away from selling
Lou standing pat.

“We like our team. Veteran core that has chemistry together”

An except from an article on the Brock Nelson situation.

"It sure sounds like 31 other teams are looking at the Islanders and wondering why they’re not just selling. In case you haven’t noticed, since the Vancouver Canucks made their pair of big trades before 4 Nations, there’s been zero NHL-level trades."

Lou is the only G.M. who still wants to add to this team it seems
I know there are still 6 days until the trade deadline but it looks like teams are moving on.

I think Nelson gets a 1st, 3rd and another piece. Palmieri might get a first too, he should get a 2nd plus. Getting a third with him would be huge IMO to add some high mid round picks given the lack of depth in our prospect pool.

First and 3rd and a 4th in 26 for Nelson from DET, Palmieri to LA/Tampa for a 2nd and 3rd sets us up real nice this draft. Some draft currency too if Lou wants to use them to get a middle six forward.

Follow up the deadline with an offseason trade of Dobson and Pageau for McTavish+ and I'm happy with the direction. Use the money on an Ehlers and I'm super excited.

That's how you fairly evaluate someone, you adjust your opinion to the adjustments they are or aren't making. He was doing a good job, then he wasn't. I'm confused as to where your confusion is with this.
If anyone is confused here, it's you. If you cannot put together that if someone does A and then as a result of doing A they derive short term limited success and in doing so use that "success" as the basis for subsequent poor decisions, then A was not a real success. It was, in fact, the genesis of future failure. But you want to say, "Good job Lou for doing A, I applaud you." when A was the actual f**k up. That is your confusion. It wasn't a good job, it was idiotic to think that that that team that took advantage of wildly unprecedented circumstances was the one reinforce and build upon. It clearly wasn't. But you want to have it both ways now and you can't. Well, you can, in your mind, and in the minds of all of the other hypocrites who loved Lou then but want him gone now. You all saw exactly what you wanted to see and your collective misjudgement and misread was as poor as his.

The problem is you do not get anything because Lou is not going to move them.

i hope he does.....not trading Nelson and Palms will be about as bad as PJ Boy's stunt in my book.
I think Palmieri goes for sure. The whole Nelson angle is down the middle for next year. If he goes and Pageau that's a lot to fill with no internal replacements.

I'd like to see an aggressive trade for a 24-28 year old center personally after. Use the assets in the Nelson deal for one. There is no one in free agency.

This is simply untrue. You're choosing to view the decision making process as one where it's A or B and there is no further option to deviate.

He did a fine job until he took the wrong action after the second Tampa Bay loss. There was an opportunity to re-structure, re-tool, re-build, whatever you want to call it and he didn't take it. That's the mistake and where I'm critical. Sorry you disagree.

It is in no way hypocritical.

I understand what you're saying but disagree with your conclusion.

What possible deals are out there that can move out our UFA’s and bring back a younger player and still allow us to contend down the stretch ?

I have no problem keeping Pags as third line center....yes, get a center. For the short term you would have Bo, Barzy and Pags

I don't think it makes sense for them but Middlestat for Nelson?

If there is a Perunovich out there in a side deal that'd be ok.

I think JG goes in the offseason but if I were a playoff team I'd go hard for him this deadline. 60% on the draw, playoff guy.

My dream is the scenario I said before about Dobber in a deal for MacTavish and overpaying for Bennett in free agency. Get some talented wings, Horvat-Bennett-Mac-Mac down the middle is a bunch of dogs. Just need skill on the sides.

I think he does.

This is the thing...We shouldn't have to think. It should be clear the way we watched several GMs on non-playoff teams sell off players already - Including a GM of a team ahead of the Isles in the standings sell two of his players just today.

Why are we not sure that a GM of a non-playoff team in dire need of younger assets is going to do the right, common sense, and best thing for the franchise he runs by trading two fading mid-30's pending UFA's - Who happen to be the #1 and #10 trade targets on everyone's boards?

To hold on to either Nelson or Palmieri is GM malpractice of the highest level. And given where this team is at and what the need in the years ahead, resigning them is almost as crazy as letting them walk for nothing.

Colorado signed Middlestat long term with complete Ntc! So it’s a No
