I said 7 or 8 years because I was responding to your question about whether he's worth a long-term deal. The cap hit makes it worth it or not, it's not just term.feels more reasonable than the 7 or 8 years being thrown around by some

Shake a Tail Feather -- Ike and TinaI'm guessing Skinner goes with either Tina Turner or Adele.
It would be a funny bit if they never released the list, and we just needed to wait for players to score to hear their song. Would add some mystery/intrigueDo we get the goal song reveal list tomorrow? Would like to see if anyone changed and what new additions there are to hear.
Sign him for six years, trade him after three or four. Bring back a nice haul if he has term left.3 years is what I'd do for Mitts. Why would we go longer? I am extremely comfortable thinking we can replace him in 3 years, and I think he'd sign for 3 years if he wants to be here and that's what they're offering.
7 or 8 years make sense for your core, but why would we lock ourselves in that long with a secondary piece when we don't have to?
You have to replace him with a center. None of the guys you listed play the same position as Mitts. Is Mittelstadt a player you commit to long term? Could he be replaced by a cheaper option?
Will eventually need to pay Quinn, Peterka, Benson, and hopefully Kulich/Savoie
That would probably work out well for Buffalo, like it. I'm skeptical he'd accept.I've said it before, but offer Mitts the Kotkanemi contract. 8 x $4.85m aav before he breaks out this year.
I don’t think they’re ready for it yet. They want to show this group that they believe in their talent, they’re a young group, and they can improve. So, this thread is a bit frustrating, in that there isn't a ton to speculate on. The needs are still the same that they were in the summer, and they showed minimal interest in fixing them. The only real obvious move is they'd probably move Olofsson for not alot. But after that...
1. They aren't going to get a goalie
2. They aren't going to add a two way forward (or any forward) unless there is a severe injury somewhere.
3. There seems to be little appetite for a core altering move.
Olofsson will definitely be on one of the PP units Idk how Greenway would slot in over him or Krebs.Any chance Krebs sees time on PP2?
I’m thinking for sure PP guys to open the season are…
Thompson
Skinner
Tuch
Cozens
Peterka
Mittelstadt
Benson
Greenway?
Dahlin
Power
Kind of answered it myself I guess… I think he’s the first guy to move to PP2 if there’s a forward injury? Maybe 2nd bc Olofsson.
There's no point in keeping Olofsson on the team if he doesn't even get PP time, his calling card is his shoot.Any chance Krebs sees time on PP2?

There is only Ostlund, who is the furthest off, or Krebs if he makes a jump. I don't think you can be very sure about either option before Mittelstadt needs a new deal. I'd rather get a new contract settled sooner, but only 7-8 years if it's around 6 mil AAV. If he passes Cozens in production this season prior to a new deal, KA will have to bump it past 7 mil AAV, or go shorter term. That would probably work out well for Buffalo, like it. I'm skeptical he'd accept.
He's our Huala/Pinto, I thinks he compares pretty favorably to them two, all things considered. If we can upgrade, I'd be up for it though.
I didn't mean to be overly critical of you - it's just that I've seen this same arguement posted by a few people lately & it makes no sense what so ever.I was simply stating potential players who could be gone after this year.
There is likely not room for more than 1 forward and 1 D prospect next year. Though I have a feeling one of Mitts or Krebs won't be around much longer. I would have tried to sell high on Kulich this offseason.I didn't mean to be overly critical of you - it's just that I've seen this same arguement posted by a few people lately & it makes no sense what so ever.
Those players may well be gone... But they will be replaced by comparable players. IE heavily defensively orientated.
The only potential spot which might open up is if Mitts moves on. But I'd still bet on him being resigned.
Whichever way you draw it up, there simply isn't going to be room for a multitude of these young offensively orientated prospects. We (and more importantly Adams) needs to embrace the philosophy of moving on from them in order to help the team in other areas.
Bolded is the original point i was making in response to @Djp 's OPThere is likely not room for more than 1 forward and 1 D prospect next year. Though I have a feeling one of Mitts or Krebs won't be around much longer. I would have tried to sell high on Kulich this offseason.
As for the trade targeting, it’s a lousy market right now because the teams that need to blow it up don’t want to blow it up, and so many of the other guys who were expected to move last summer also stayed put to the extent that for me it’s not even worth it to dig too deeply into those targets until we hear otherwise. (I’ll be checking in on Calgary and St. Louis when the calendar flips to January and forward).
If you could sign him for that I definitely would. I think 5X5 or 6X6 is more likely if they wanted to extend him.I've said it before, but offer Mitts the Kotkanemi contract. 8 x $4.85m aav before he breaks out this year.
I'd argue he did breakout last year. He upped is PPG from around .5 to .72. That's a big time jump. He also showed a really strong two-way game, and proved he can play top-6/top line minutes effectively in a pinch. The fact he can be effective on the wing or at C is a big deal to me. He may be our modern-day Hecht.Mitts will not break out, and we have like 6 potential replacements for him. He will be about .5-/6 ppg, inevitably get injured and finish strong and everyone will say "Mitts breakout next year" like the last 3.
