Hey guys, sorry if this isn't the right thread but didn't know where else to pose the question:

If you all could pick a pair of people to follow on socials for the basics - day to day stuff, practice/game lines, injuries etc. - who would they be? Or just one? Asking because these days there are so many personalities and individual people covering sports teams and you can only follow so many.

For Buffalo?

Watching both the Sabres and Amerks on back-to-back nights...

I'm disappointed in the lack of structure considering how little the turnover was on both teams.

Doesn't look great on the players or coaches to look this messy only on.
They had no answer for Rangers' 1-3-1. That's an in-game adjustment fail on the coaching staff.

There are still options to give Power a better partner. Clifton is obviously choice #1, and I think there's potential there for chemistry to build.

Im not viewing the fact theyre starting with Joki on Power's pair as some huge failure by Adams. He added a lot of depth to the defense, and I think there's a solid chance someone finds chemistry with Power.
I'm still absolutely convinced that Power's long term partner isn't currently in the organisation.

There is a serious lack of defensive acumen in that potential lineup. Worse than it is now, which is difficult.

This is what I mean when I say the team is 'poorly architected'.

Not every line needs to fit into a neat definition, but you need certain roles filled. You need to be able to have two lines (3 in an ideal world) that are defensively competent. We currently have one. I'm not sure that proposed group of forwards has the makeup for one.

They need to do some serious reconfiguring here. Find a vet middle six center who can anchor the top PK unit and be on the ice for big moments. Have Greenway be on his LW and a passable 2 way RW. Have him mentor a young center like Krebs or maybe Biro. Keep some of the youngsters on the farm for a bit and learn a more two way system.

You are winning zero championships with 3 lines that can't find their own end of the ice.
I agree that defensively responsible vets could help, but these young guys we already have are going to need to learn to buy into some sort of defensive system or this team will never go anywhere in the playoffs.

I don’t know if it is coaching, inexperienced players, or the specific players we have, but defense seems optional for these guys right now.

There is typically a reason when new coaches come in, they will often bring in a few vets they've worked with before.

They certainly do need some changes in the forward group, however, I'm not certain they will be able to implement a successful defensive structure under the current coaching staff. They've let them eat ice cream for dinner by letting the players play with zero defensive responsibility for so long. And yes, it's had good on paper results in terms of scoring. But when it comes to actually dialing it in and implementing a solid defensive structure, getting players to eat their spinach after being on an ice cream diet for 2 years.....it's going to be a big ask.

You may be right, but I’m kind of hoping they can figure it out with current head coach, and most of the current players.

Granato has said it is going to be a point of emphasis this season, so I guess we’ll see if he succeeds.

Sabres need to be good directly, not last 20 games into the season when teams slow off because they Either know they Miss or preparing for playoffs.

Yes, thank you.

I have to say there's a lot of great Sabres content out there, which is partially why I'm getting feedback here to try to pare it down.
Lance and Matthew Fairburn. Fairburn also writes excellent stories about the team whereas I find Lance a bit dry in his articles.

But day to day stuff Lance is dialed in.

Those 10 games.

Hey, I just think he's the least of our worries right now. Going forward if our prospects continue to grow into NHL guys and he needs to get shipped off, I'm fine with it. I'd love to see what Krebs can do in that place and if he succeeds then we can talk about it.

I’ll agree with that.

The over hype of mitts is #2 on my list of pet peeves right now.
