Kopitar would be worth $10M if he performed consistently and didn't take months off, which is one of the big factors as to why the Kings failed to reach the playoffs last season.

His predictable movements on the PP and on shootouts really hurt the team last season, and this season he has three goals and zero assists in nine games. He has as many points as Dustin Brown and Tanner Pearson.

The team needs more out of him if they plan to go anywhere, and if he wants to be a $10M player, he better start performing as one. He did in the past, but the Kings aren't going to be paying him over the next eight years for what he did in 2012 and 2014.

I have no doubt he will reach an agreement with the Kings, but the best way for him to force their hand is to go out there and dominate. If you want top dollar, that's a requirement.

I realize this roster is all about Wins>Everything else, but sometimes a little selfishness when you have his talent is a good thing.

Hey do you guys think Muzzin can repeat his offensive stats from last year? I realize he's off to a slow start but I'm thinking of picking him up on my fantasy team.

Our rule around here when anyone asks this question...

"Don't draft or pick-up any Kings on your fantasy teams"

Ahhh yeah I should know this since I drafted kopitar last year... I then traded him like 3 months into the season and all of a sudden he took off.

Muzzin ain't a bad sleeper though, just not sure he'll replicate that production with the shifting pps and more PK work

Kopitar

First 11 games last year - 2 goals, 1 assist.
Had stretches of 10 games, 10 games, and 8 games without a goal last year.
Started last year with 5 goals in 25 games.
Ended the year with 4 goals in 26 games.
Had a 12 game stretch with 2 assists.
First 28 games of the year he had 7 assists.

Going back to last year, he's got 3 goals in his last 17 games. Has 0 assists in his last 11 games. 4 assists in his last 18 games.

19 goals in his last 100 games starting from Game 7 in Anaheim.

At least he has the puck most of the time.

I would go with Andreoff instead.

A real sleeper.

The load on Doughty, Muzzin, and Martinez on both PK and PP is too much. A lot of it is a situational problem where in a short span of a game there's too much of this all at once. As good as these guys are, when they are gassed out there, they become ineffective. If McBain can't beat out Ehrhoff for PP minutes, then he's not too useful because he is not going to PK either. So Greene and/or Forbort become better alternatives because at least they can both PK. We haven't seen Forbort PK yet, but that's what he did all last year in Manchester, and was decent at it. So for the 5-6, we'd have one that gets PP time and one that gets PK time. McNabb for now gets PK time only, and the big three still get both, just not so much of it, and certainly not all bunched together. Imo

Wideman, Schenn and Polak are all names that have come up before. Carle is a new one confirmed, but was previously speculated upon.

Some right handed D available per MacKenzie, too bad none of them seem like an upgrade. Mayyyybe Wideman if he can turn it around and play like he did last year. Would give a veteran presence on the blueline. Like I said earlier, a trade doesn't really make sense right now because of how well we're playing...

Wideman cost too much next year when we have to re-sign Kopitar

Now if you want to insert him into your Draft Kings lineup come playoff time...:win:

Completely off-topic - but **** them and Fan Duel. I am so sick of being inundated with their commercials.

Use promotional offer SUICIDE BY COMMERCIAL and we'll match your initial deposit...

I really don't care if it's considered gambling or not - a person can spend their money as irresponsibly as they wish in my book, but give me a freaking break on the commercials.

Yeah, but many years from now, like "I've fallen and can't get up", "where's the beef?", and "headon, apply directly to the forehead", "use promotional code any damn word in the English language" will never be forgotten.

And therein really lies the problem. Even if we WERENT playing well, none of the names mentioned are enough of an improvement to move assets for, never mind the potential chemistry issues, etc.

/hi5!

Good defensemen and forwards wont be available until closer to the trade deadline. The teams that started the season knowing they would not be in the playoffs have already unloaded players for assets and the borderline teams wont know whether they should unload until they are clearly out of the playoffs by February. Considering we are not in a panic stage like the Ducks and Flames we should stand still and wait.
