so then does this mean the kings want to trade weal? i wonder why they didn't look to trade him like they did with oneill then?
it'll be interesting to see what they do with him... looks like he's sitting again next game.
Friedman was saying that they were offering Weal in addition to Richards as a sweetner to entice other teams to take the Richards contract off their hands. I don't think they were actively trying to trade Weal, but if it could rid them of Richard's contract then they would be willing to deal him.

No, but DL is still shopping for a top 4 D and if he finds a trade partner, Weal might be a piece going the other way or if the Kings are treading quicksand in Feb and DL feels (again as in Sekera and Lucic) that he needs the veteran piece to get hte Kings in the playoffs, Weal might be the piece going back. Or if they are in the playoff mix and an significant injury occurs to a key player and he feels the need to do that.
It's a business first and Weal, like all players are just commodities.
That's Weally harsh.
About time to do a line blender....
Most players need a change of pace, and it seems like a good time to try it. I think Kopitar needs a different look on his wings. Going crazy here, but I would like to see 2 periods of this to see if it helps kick start the offence.
Pearson-Kopitar-Weal
Gaborik-Carter-Toffoli
Lucic-Shore-Brown
Clifford-Lewis-Nolan
I know it's not practical, as Weal can't even get a sniff, much less 1st line time, but changing Kopitar's look on the wing may change his approach a little and hopefully makes it fun. That's a lot of speed on the 1st line.
I'm not sure how the 2nd line would fare, but it's also really fast and could stretch the ice. Probably not a great puck-possession line, but could create opportunities.
The 3rd line would be banging and hard to play against.
The 4th line is the left-overs, as no way Sutter excludes Lewis from the line-up, and they could be a solid 4th line.
What's everybody else's ideas for a line-up blender?
me too. but c'mon you guys. sutter wont even put weal on a 3rd or 4th line. it's a pipedream to think he'll put him on line 1 or 2. he should be on a line where he can play to his skills so to me the 4th line is a mismatch. but sutter has favorites he wont move. truthfully i think the kings will end up dealing weal and i hope he gets a chance somewhere because it was clear last season with the monarchs that, if given the chance, he can shine in big games.
Under Sutter rookies aren't allow to make mistakes, especially in their first game. He's now banished into the Phantom Zone. But you know what, the best pass by a center this season was from Weal to stone hands Nolan who didn't know what to do with it..
