Dusting this one off...

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklund/Quick-Hit-Sunday-Afternoon-Rumors-Potential-BIG-deal/1/71613

Eklund has the Kings talking to NYI today, better then Phaneuf from yesterday.

So, with the team having glaring holes and all the extracurricular activities from last year have been resolved from a cap perspective, how long until there's a trade? What extra pieces do the Kings have that they can part with?

The boldfaced is the tricky part imo. Futures aren't really moveable, but I suppose there's Kempe, Zykov, Gravel, Forbort, next year's 2nd...basically, stuff that will gut the farm. And trading anyone off the roster would sort of set us back unless we're getting younger AND better...so I can't imagine what we have that the Isles would want and vice versa.

Damn, that Eklund is a hard worker. I'm amazed that the Kings can be negotiating a HUGE deal with the Leafs for Phaneuf AND AT THE SAME TIME negotiating a multi-player deal with the Islanders. Sure hope Dean doesn't mistakenly trade one or more of our guys to both teams at the same time. That would be embarrassing.

I don't mind Lombardi trades guys like Kempe and other top prospects/picks as long as he trades for long term roster players. This rental crap is nonsense.

My guesses for these two possible trading partners:

Brown to the Islanders straight up for Okposo.

Matt Greene and a mid level prospect to the Leafs for Phanuff at (1 Mil retained annually).

If Brown is trash then the rest of the team is white dog **** because he's been about the only one with a pulse out there in these first two games.

Im going with Brown for Harmonic and the Phanuff rumor looks fabricated ;)

While true, Brown's contract is horrific, and makes his value close to zero

I'd guess it would be Amart + a prospect for Dion + salary retained and if it's the Islanders it has to be Okposo...stay tuned.

The download instructions for the Kings schedule for the iPhone are all ****ed up; starting with a bad link for the full schedule. If you want to download the Kings schedule this season, this is how you do it:

1. Click on 'Settings.'
2. Select 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars.'
3. Select 'Add Account.'
4. Select 'Other.'
5. Select 'Add Subscribed Calendar.'
6. In the server box, type "kings.nhl.com/schedule/full.ics". (quotes omitted, of course)
7. Select 'Continue' when the iPhone responds with "cannot verify..."
8. Select 'Continue' when the iPhone responds with "cannot use SSL..."
9. Click on 'Save.'

Any questions, post them here. But that should do it. The Kings site is getting to be pretty lame these days, including links to past season on their front page. I'm wondering who maintains the site. Anyway, those instructions should get you going on your iPhone.

Again, the link is broken for the full schedule. The link that should be used is kings.nhl.com/schedule/full.ics.

I really want Lombardi to stop gutting the farm. I will lose my mind if Lombardi trades Kempe. Lose. My. Mind.

What's your definition of gutting the farm?

I think Lombardi treats the farm like he does the current roster, although a little differently, because they're different situations. On the roster, he has yet to trade anyone that has played a significant role on either Cup team, and couldn't even let Richards go until it was too late. With the prospects, he's been willing to trade 1st round picks to get Penner, Carter, Sekera, Lucic, but how many farm gutting prospects has he traded? Teubert, McKeown, Miller. Got McNabb for Fasching. If you want to throw Schenn in there, I guess you could. So he's been more willing to trade figments of imagination(unknown 1st round picks), than too many farm gutting players. Teubert isn't in the NHL. There was no room for Schenn after getting Richards. Between Fasching, McKeown, and Miller, there's about 1 game of NHL hockey so far, which is the same amount as Weal, Forbort, and Gravel.

Funny how things turn out though. When Lombardi became the GM, people said he was too married to prospects to ever get a team over the top. Now he's too married to the players on Cup winning rosters.

Done! ;)

But seriously, what's the big deal, if we better our chances of winning the cup this year by trading Kempe? A guy like Kempe, probably won't be a big factor on the kings for at least 2 or 3 years.

As long as we're not trading for another rental, I'm open to it.

I'm not Kempe has the Toffoli type feel to him Developed properly I also see him here a lot sooner then u think Cup of coffee in febish and on the team when Lucic gone ufa believe in the pipeline :)

I'm not at all against trading many, many prospects and picks.

I AM against trading Kempe. Something screams big league about him.

Doubt the Kings brass would ever entertain the idea of trading Kempe, unless the package was just too good.

Kempe is the real deal, and teams are going to regret passing on him.

I seriously think Kempe can develop into Kopitar good, but from the Winger position.
