Hjalmarssons arrival makes me calm about the defense situation. Not sure I want Lundqvist and Hagelin over Karlsson and Silfverberg anymore.

The D is good, but Lundqvist can save the game even if everyone else decide to do a suck-routine. But seriously, the NYR-OTT series is pure win anyway.

Ericsson and Hjalmarsson are not on the team yet and we're rolling 8 D's. Should be better anyway, but it's more a collective thing than individual.

The lines are rolling like usual on the PP, there's basically no active coaching at all since the players are fighting for the same final spots.

If Fernholm is even a possible for the roster.. We definitely need more than Karlsson.

He's a #7 at best, more like #8 or #9.
Karlsson/Stralman
Ericsson
Hedman
Hjalmarsson
Kronwall
Ekholm
Fernholm/Brodin/Frogren

Can't compare today's lineup with the one in WC.

Ahneløv, Harju, Bång, Zackrisson, Omark, Lundh, Fernholm will probably all be gone by then.

Franzen-Zetterberg-Eriksson
Landeskog-Järnkrok-Silfverberg/Hagelin
Stålberg-Kruger-Alfredsson/Andersson
Persson-Lundqvist-Pettersson

Strålman/Karlsson-Hedman
Hjalmarsson-Ericsson
Ekholm-Kronwall
+Frögren and Brodin.

Enroth
Fasth

(maybe Lundqvist)

A faaaaaaar better squad than today. Hopefully!

Only if that 4th line gets less than 2 minutes a game. Such garbage players.

one more time, its not about the players, there is no teamplay what so ever, how many od man rushes have sweden given up these last 3 games, ive lost count.

Yep, agree with you there. But they are the best 4-line players Sweden have at the moment. And I would think that they accept all the minutes they could get in a WC at homeground.

I've watched a couple of Russia games lately, and based on your thoughts here it seems likely that Sweden-Russia could be a boooooooring game.

Russia has played super-defensive.. But still lost their games 0-1 etc...

Thought Lundqvist and Pettersson were good. Sadly for them, Harju destroyed most of the zone time they created. His fluke goal doesn't mean much. But the biggest difference is that they were leading guys today and expected to score, and will be 4th line guys in the WC. Their more diminished roles on the final team will only do them well.

Persson was real weak today, and what a nonsensical line to play him with Omark and Lundh. Omark has regressed the last couple of seasons and has no confidence. I doubt he'll stay on the team.

Fasth, Zackrisson and Olausson were not terrible but also non-factors. Neither adds anything special, maybe maybe that Fasth's speed could be useful on another line.

Kid line did what I expected and more. They didn't get nearly the ice time they deserved. Thought all three of them were great.

Kronwall and Ekholm was the only good D pairing. Brodin was alright. Hedman was up and down. Ahnelov, Fernholm and Karlsson were pylons. Frogren I didn't notice much, but I guess that's a good thing for him.

So currently two defensemen and five forwards will join the current roster before WC starts. How would you cut to leave room for them?

Personally I would cut these:
Mattias Karlsson, Jonas Ahnelöv, Patrik Zackrisson, Daniel Bång, Nicklas Olausson, Patrik Lundh, Johan Harju

Hoping for Erik Karlsson, as the D is our weak point a the moment IMHO.

Those are likely to be cut, I agree. Perhaps M. Karlsson gets to stay on Brodin's behalf though. I also want Harju instead of Fasth, but that's unlikely

I would rather cut M. Karlsson than Brodin. No matter who of them goes, they will likely spend most of the time eating hot dogs in the stands. Brodin, who is young, might benefit from the experience of being around so many good players.

Persson was the worst player on the ice today, I definitely don´t want him on the final team. He has not really been good on the national team at all this year.

Landeskog was not friend with the puck which is a bit worrying. But the line was our best. Järnkrok showed he belong on the team imo. I think Hedman does this in Tampa when the games is not important, join the offense. Doesn't seem to work. He will be our crane when the opposition gets tougher. Kronwall's play wasn't that brilliant. Maybe they should split up them both, Ekholm and him. Finally Enroth looked a bit shaky last half.
