Not sure I like MÃ¥rts bringing Ericsson in at this point. Well, he better not invite Murray as well... Niklas Kronwall is a lock if he wants to go. Edler will most likely be available soon as well. One of Karlsson and Stralman will be available. And either Ekman-Larsson or Hjalmarsson/Oduya will be available... Adam Larsson could be too. I guess not everyone will say yes if invited, but that's still a lot of options. If Murray is invited there might not be room for Larsson, Oduya, Hjalmarsson and Stralman, all more deserving than Murray of a spot imo.

Just skip all not NHL players and problems are solved.

Since they are allowed to have 8 defenseman in the tournament, I guess you're right should they decide to involve any non-NHL'ers.

Hedman
Ericsson
Murray
Larsson
Ekman-Larsson
Karlsson or Stralman
Kronwall
Edler

That would be 8. If Chicago beats Phoenix though their would be 9 with Hjalmarsson and Oduya. Anyways, it's unlikely that all of them would accept their invitations so I guess Marts perhaps should give Murray a call afterall. I wonder how a couple of these guys would feel about sitting on the bench though...

I should also say that I think S. Kronwall is a lock to make the team, for the simple fact that he's Niklas brother (as long as Niklas accepts his invitation). I'm also guessing that Ekholm will be one team, unless all the really good defenders other than Kronwall (Edler, Karlsson and Ekman-Larsson) becomes available.

We haven't heard much yet in terms of confirmation, but this tournament sure got potential for Sweden. The Ottawa NYR series will produce even more potential no matter what.

Ugh... I can live with Staffan Kronwall on the team, but Oscar Hedman and Anton Hedman isn't WHC caliber at all imo, not to mention that Anton is a forward. And don't get me started on Mattias Kronwall, who played in division 4 last year. On the other hand, those pairings could really confuse the opposing teams. :sarcasm:

Anton Hedman is not related, but Oscar and Victor have a third brother Johan who is a D ;)

Geez. For the last years our WC-squad has been a joke, we should appreciate every NHL-player we can get.

Sure, a big part of our strength in this tournament is dependent on two top centers. That's why Henrik is needed so much. Actually he's our best player. Him being in control of the puck at high speed behind the net looking for options is pure art.

Really can't see Staffan getting shafted. He has barely missed a Tre Kronor game the past two seasons. Not to mention he's actually a good player.

Same with Niklas Persson, ultimate team guy and has been the "dad" of this team. Even if he's the 13th forward he should be there imo.

You need those guys too to set an example.

Am I the only one who feels that this could turn out to be a major fiasco? Imagine if all of those guys said yes and we'd end up not winning the gold. On home ice nonetheless. :help:

A top 6 consisting of Sedins, Eriksson, Zetterberg, Landeskog and Franzén is basically olympic quality, not quite, but almost.

I'd feel more comfortable with a young, unproven squad with few nhlers. What if the fins were to beat us again this time, it would truly be a big blow to my hockey pride at least.

Just asking, does Sweden play their current system with 12 forwards and 8 defensemen or 13F/7D? I know Finland likes to play the current system with the former.

Also, if Sedins (or Washington's players) decide to show up, will Järnkrok be cut?

MÃ¥rts likes running the 13-7.

Yes, I would think so. MÃ¥rts would rather have Lundqvist as the #4 C.
