I wonder how much landing Dahlin would change the overall performance of our d

More transition, probably similar chances against at first, so GF goes up and GA are static without goalie adjustment? Or something.

On Falk. I don’t mind him as a #6/7 D. He brings snarl. Something we lack big time. Let him split mins with a couple others at the bottom of the totem pole next season :dunno:

#8 would be okay with me - 20-30 games at 12 minutes a night.

I wonder if Chicago shakes up their roster to get younger.

ROR
3RD OA
Nylander

for

P. Kane
9th OA

Chicago saves $3 million, gets younger and jumps up in the draft.

Haha you read my mind, but I didn’t have the balls to post it.

Disclaimer that I'm adamantly against trading ROR. If they're going to do it, though, and Carolina is the landing spot, I'd ask for Pesce and Rask.

I'd imagine Pesce is a non-starter for Carolina, but that's the kind of deal it would take for me to consider trading ROR.

ROR (with small adds) for Pesce, Rask

You can't just switch guys from LD to RD or LW to RW - some players are better on their off-hand side and they play there as they develop, others are noticeably worse and it's really not fair to the player, especially the young call-up guys.

Beaulieu only has a year left on his contract, I'm sure Botts can find some sucker to trade for him..don't care if its for a bag of pucks. Hell some people want to give TheChad a chance on their team.

I wouldn’t hold your breathe on Beaulieu, maybe if he was making 1-1.5

I’d love to get Holtby.

I’m also terrified of what a nincompoop GM like Botts might do to get him.... I fear it’s something that would make Mike Milbury blush....
So now you're hurling insults about a GM who has yet to make a bad trade that isn't a gamble with a late round pick?

But...you were excited when Housley was hired. Everybody was.

Yea... but I expect my ability to judge of the coaching ability of a guy who has no track record as a head coach.... should be significantly lower than Botts, who is essentially hired because that is one of his actual abilities (turns out... it's not).... which only once again goes to show that Pegula doesn't have a clue.

The selection of Housley as coach was pretty universally cheered throughout the hockey world. We weren't the only team in demand for his services. The system Housley laid out that he wants to play sounded exactly what both Botts and us wanted for this team, especially with Jack Eichel. It hasn't worked for a number of reasons but to really bash Botts and Pegula over it is a bit much.
What great GM hasn't made mistakes with coaching hires? Lou used to fire his coaches mid-season almost yearly and still win Cups. Red Wings fans are hating on Holland, especially for hiring Blashill, but it's a bit much when you have all that success as a track record.
I'd love to know how hiring the right coach is an exact science. Based on the amount of coaching turnover every year, finding the right coach might be the hardest and most inexact job for a GM.
