Mainly because I don't think McBain will get qualified at his current salary. He's a bottom pairing specialist....don't really see the need given the volume of young d-men we have who are nearing NHL readiness.

Odd, since reaching the salary cap floor is going to be a chore.

I don't see McBain as a need. I see him as a youngish player who can be kept around while the youth slow cooks properly.

And I get Murray's comment he doesn't like the hulking physical hall gill style d-man....Orpik is more of a Jay McKee style stay at home d-man, where he has the wheels not to get out of position still. I think with the comments about bringing WNYers home, Orpik is right in that wheel house.

Orpik has horseshoes... not wheels.

Obviously, the WNY comment fits... but the player doesn't.

And both Zad and Risto are NHL ready now. It isn't rushing them to assume after a year more in the gym they'll be NHL ready. If not them we have McCabe and Rud who can also play.

I think Risto will absolutely be ready next year, but he'll still probably start in Rochester and need to FORCE his way on the roster.

I think it's clear that Zadarov will go back to juniors... the organization is building for the future... no need to rush anyone, even if they are "ready".

more than likely, i see our 14/15 defense as:
Ehrhoff-Myers
Ruhwedel-Pysyk
Weber-McBain
x UFA

Once Bryan Murray goes away, we can start calling him by his last name.

Bryan Murray = GMTh :naughty:

He's destined to eventually become GM of the San Jose Sharks, and every PC will end with him attempting to pronounce the name of the franchise.

I don't think that's clear at all, if he comes to camp and plays his way onto the team he could be there.

Disagreed. Every comment the new regime has made since taking over points to another year in junior for Zadorov regardless of how well he does or does not play.

I think it's going to be a battle between Risto and Ruhwedel for one spot on D next year with Ruhwedel winning out due in part to his age. Both guys can still be moved to Rochester freely and i think that luxury will force Zadorov back to London.

I also have a feeling McNabb will be traded as part of a package this summer.

so if he comes in and has a Tyler Myers like pre-season and training camp you are saying he most certainly gets sent back?

pretty much.

And Tyler Myers is a perfect example of why

The way they've talked and acted is that an NHL player plays in the NHL. If Zadorov looks like a Calder trophy winner he won't get sent down. Proof? No one sent down Girgensons, in fact they moved him to the first line. I don't think Zadorov will be NHL ready next season, and if he's not capable of top 4 mins they won't keep him.

That's not how they've talked and acted AT ALL.

They've clearly stated there is a WAY to develop and become an NHLer. And that's by playing at the proper levels and growing into an NHL player.

Girgensons had a year of pro hockey at the AHL level under his belt.

Risto will have a chance to make the team next year after a year of AHL hockey.

Zadarov will go back to juniors next year, because he is not eligible for the AHL

period.

everyone get used to it....

Whoever we draft #1/#2 (Reinhart/Ekblad)... they are going back to junior as well.

Yea. This regime is very clearly taking a cautious approach with pretty much every young player in the organization except for Girgensons. And that's the right approach to take.

Buffalo would be in a very bad place with its youth both short- and long-term if LaFontaine hadn't taken over. The Edmonton parallels were spot on. This regime isn't ****ing around.

I'm fairly confident this team knows to take every player on a case by case basis. They don't make blanket rules and everyone is forced into them regardless of situation.

What I posted above will be correct. And you will attribute it to "case by case", while I will attribute it to "organizational design".

What's everyone's ideal line up when the team is fully healthy. Assuming Larsson is kept in Rochester. Mine:

Moulson– Ennis – Girgensons
Omark– Hodgson – Stafford
Ott– Konopka– D'Agostini
Foligno – McCormick – Flynn
XLeino

Myers- Tallinder
Ehroff- Pysyk
Weber- Mcbain
XScott

Rochester would get a huge boost, but a lot of moves would have to be made.

If Leino can prove to be useful, then he can center Ott and D'Agostini putting Konopka on the 4th line, and McCormick as the 13th forward. I like the work ethic and toughness of the team when Leino isn't in the line up.

What would you be willing to give for Kadri? I think he would fit in nicely, for the right price.

I don't even have an interest, he is a good player but do you really want to give up the assets to get him? To me he is a Mike Ribeiro 2.0, good player on a bad team but also a big reason why your team is bad.

Kadri would be a nice piece to add if we had a lot of good core forwards around him. We definitely don't have that right now

You're telling me you wouldn't move Moulson or Ott for Kadri? He's 23 and would immediately be our best forward. Fits right in with Ennis and Hodgson to form a 2nd scoring line for years to come.
