Pass, not interested in anything in this UFA class, upgrade via trade.

Agree on bad UFA class, but honestly...Name a trade that could be made that would be smart to make for this team right now? Even giving up 3-4 top assets to get a Robertson or Larkin still won't put us on the level of a Carolina, Florida, Colorado, Dallas, Vegas, Minnesota, etc.

Seriously...Do we have to consider a full rebuild now with this Florida trade? Florida, Montreal, Carolina, maybe Buffalo are going to dominate the East for the foreseeable....

Maybe it's time to maximize our top vet talent. Move either Barzal or Horvat this year. The other one next offseason....obviously sell off guys like Pelech, Schenn, Pulock and Parms. Then their's Sorokin, wonder in the next year or two what value can we get with him. If it's a tear down and we move these guys, I don't necessarity think it would be a long rebuild either.

I don't think you trade Barzal/Horvat/Sorokin because of Florida. I do think that you look at how to maximize Schaefer's future in the next 2-3 years of this team.

A full on rebuild is not the answer (as we can tell by yet another year of a team winning who did not go through a multi year rebuild).

Maybe you deal one of these guys, but you don't trade all of them in my opinion. There is just not clear evidence that this method works in the current NHL.

I respect your feedback...but think about it. Ok, so we do it your way. We trade Barzal for Robertson or Larkin (just for the sake of this)....Does this make us on a even playing field with Florida? in my mind, not even close. We have too many holes.

About 7mil in cap space left for Panthers. 2 goalies and a defensman to go. Should be interesting.

I don't think you trade Barzal because of Florida. You trade him if he doesn't fit and you can improve your team.

Lots of rumors that locker room wasn’t happy with him. Cant imagine that podcast he was doing helped the situation.

Think you are gonna find that the Olympics will be the turning point for the league in that the players seem to have been talking about, he if you want out, just say you want out (after you have your money of course).

Americans with stature will probably force themselves off Canadian teams.

And Canadian teams might just avoid American players at the top of the draft if possible. Maybe not if the American is a tier above but if you’re debating between two guys and one is likely to box you in with a trade demand when they’re in their prime maybe just take the other guy.

I'm not sure you trade Barzal for a win now swap like this honestly. I think they need to look into trading someone, but not sure Barzal is the answer here. Dynamic skaters are tough to come by.

If you get 2-3 top tier assets in return for Barzal? Fine. But trying to trade everyone is something I am against.

Florida gets to trade for Tkachuk because of no taxes and the islanders are basically getting ready to announce Anders Lee and TDA are both back, it really is nice being restricted thanks to years of bad management

Isles Twitter is an absolute cesspool.

Some of these guys cannot be actual fans of the teams with some of the stuff they say.

Darche has been the GM for exactly 1year and the anti Darche crowd is beyond insane and annoying.
It’s excessive. That said he mishandled the deadline after a pretty solid start so the spotlight is on him. Cant misread the situation like that again.

it isnt even like Darche did anything inherently WRONG, its just the entire team fell apart at the worst time and they had the worst coaching. The problem is that this fanbase cannot admit that Lou did so much wrong that all the pressure is on Darche. He said it bluntly: he cannot do much at all until year 2. Even then, I felt like the Palat deal couldve been better if Palat had at least something in the tank, and Schenn wasnt even terrible but people are insisting that we gave up the best draft pick ever (29) for a dude who helps the bottom 6.

"But Schenns metrics suck on ice! Look at the chart! the chart says everything!!!!"

Meanwhile this fanbase also insists that we are a Pierre Engvall away from beating Carolina and a Marcus Hogberg away from having a better backup.

Enough of isles twitter. and this place too. I dont have expectations for next year anyways because its very clear the isles need more time to either get Eklund and Eiserman on the roster, and hope that their 1st overall this year is another building block.

even if he didnt do a trade, the team was gonna regress and we get stuck with Drouin for another year and a really meh set of picks. Maybe that 1st and 3rd become someone irrelevant. end of the day, Darche wanted to get a player who helped the lineup. Schenn helped the lineup. Everyone else fell apart, in particular Horvat and Holmstrom, two players that isles twitter will preach like the gospel but will never mention their shortcomings since coming here. They become some of the ugliest arguments and i hate that. Holmstrom has shown the isles that he's nothing incredible outside of random 10 game bursts every few weeks. The dude can either be a great player, or completely shut down the moment you put pressure on him to produce like a top 6 player

He may or may not be the guy but it’s legit only 1 year. He needs 3-5 to shape the roster in the way he wants. His first draft early on looks good. This time next week we can dissect this new draft. But for better or worse you have to give him time.

I wasn’t thrilled with the deadline but it’s nothing franchise crippling like Milbury.

It’s insane. That guy Philfactz is out of his mind.
Average conversation will Phil will almost always find a way to either blame it on Darche, find an issue with Lou and THEN spin it on Darche, and then blame Darche for ruining the islanders. Mind you, the Islanders have stayed completely mid since 2021, their highest water mark as a team since the 90's.

Also incredible how you have his lackeys all parroting the exact same things he would. One of the most inorganic isles fans out there

its a meh deadline. You lose but at the end, you got out of Tsyplakov and Drouin and dont have Palat or Schenn for much longer
