Fans always envy the rebuilds and the contenders…

The NJD looked sexy once upon a time, then the GM filled them up with crap.

Nah - Never thought the Devils were that good, but...Again without a good GM then no build (rebuild or otherwise) is going to work.

As per puckpedia San Jose has $46M of cap space right now. $19M below the cap floor.

If the Islanders want some more picks and give a facelift to this blueline, now is the time to trade Romanov's deal before NTC kicks in next season or capitalize on Pelech's current value and get that 27th OA, 62nd OA, and possibly a B prospect.

3 Isles targets traded today -

Kyrou for McMichael, 16th OA, and Milton Gastrin (2nd round pick last year)
Islander version-
Kyrou for Holmstrom, 13th OA, and Daniil Prokhorov - PASS

Eklund and 2 prospects for the 9th OA pick, great move by the Sharks to get back into the top 10.

Nemec was not being traded within the division, especially not to the Islanders. Nice move by the Flames, who have plenty of picks, and all of those #1's are other teams, not theirs.

What happened to the totally non-eventful offseason you were predicting....?

I do - Metro is weak outside of Carolina
Assuming a bounce back year from the Panthers I can see 5 teams from the Atlantic making the playoffs. I agree the Metro isn’t great after the Canes. So I would think Darche is trying to make the playoffs while retooling. That would seem possible at the moment pending other moves.

That was a terrible draft. I'm guessing the GMs who traded those picks to Milbury knew that.

Literally zero doubt.

The Habs got Trevor Linden for #10.

The Kings gave Milbury #8 as part of the deal for Palffy. The Isles also got Olli jokinen...Who Milbury then treated as a throw in ONE year later to execute the worst trade in NHL history.

I would prefer to trade Pelech but thinking along the same lines as you

I don't think I've ever agreed with you more than this post.

and no Larkin or Nurse news today.. Cant wait to see what tomorrow brings but I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick that football. There will be some rumor of us trading a vet for A prospects/picks only to fall through

I’m having whiplash seeing the “we need to rebuild!” comments and then reading “what is Darche doing? We can’t run it back when other teams are improving!”. Talk about a forum with issues lol.

That's because you're judging the "forum" as one collcetive entity...When it's made up 100's of individuals.

And just want to make sure you have me on record as NOT trying to compete with the Hurricanes and Panthers of the world right now. You're going to ruin your future and lose in the present.

Build Around Schaefer.

That means acuairing as many 18-25 year olds as possible. And it should be the ONLY plan.

If we get rid of Duclair and Engvall this offseason I'd be happy to keep Palat.
Move Palat too. You’ll be ok without wearing the Satan jersey with a duct taped nameplate this year. If we move Palat too, we can finally give David Toews that shot in the lineup he deserves.
