Palms can easily get at least 2nd + prospect. Lou should be telling Palmieri that either he trades him and can sign in the summer in order to get the assets back in deal OR he can be extended BEFORE the trade deadline for 2/3 years at HALF his current price in return for us losing out on trade return. The best spin i could give is that if Palms indicated he didnt want to be traded and wanted to stay and that he was willing to sign a reasonable 2 year extension to stay, then...I guess we do need players so he's a decent fit.

Or maybe he just wanted a chance to win a cup. With the cap expected to jump so much maybe Brock thinks he can get a lot more?
Or just wants more years. Either way, for now Brock did us a huge favor. Let’s hope Palmieri does the same.
The only problem with that plan is that when you throw the money at Kaprizov, he throws it back.In 2 years all of Ritchie, Eiserman, and Nelson should be ready, + whoever we take with our probable top 10 pick this season. Let's call that player James Hagens for now. Cap will be up, and we could have 4 players on rookie deals in our lineup. That will give us the cash to throw big money at a player like Kaprizov.
Lou needs to pivot and try to move older assets like #53, 44, and 24. Do not understand not selling off expiring contracts. Will be curious what term and dollar amount is for Palms.
Extending Palms now makes the Brock trade make no sense. If you don’t sell off assets then you clearly think the team can still complete, so if that’s the case then why would you trade one of your best forwards? Such awful asset management from Lou in what is a pivotal point for this franchise.
I'm as hard on Lou as anyone though I don't think he is a POS. He is an 82 year old man being asked to run a business in which the average of the employees is 28 and how business was done 25 years ago isn't how it is done now. It is more cutthroat (see JBB, BZ and KM) and perhaps even a little less honorable but trying to swim against that tide is pointless. If Brock is where it ends today as far as significant deals for this team then that responsibility lies mostly with Malkin at this point.I can't believe what a POS Lou is, a fraternity the Islanders are, accommodating 34 year old vets who I am guessing don't want to leave the area and as a result we have to suffer
I thought you were just in it for the lolz, I didn’t realize you actually thought Lou was doing a good jobThings were getting entirely too happy around here, back on track now
Dubas says hi. Make moves, literally go nowhere.to be clear, i would have traded palms. and lee. and TDA. and pageau.
but.
here we are
I have a very serious question for Lou. When he says LOYALTY is important to him, does he mean the players or the fans? because he's only showing loyalty to the players. The FANS deserve the best product - not to keep the band together for one more disastrous show.

Carolina shows their true colors. They did no diligence on Ratanen - hope and pray trade.Wow, Winnipeg just became a very grindy playoff kind of team.
As for the Rantanen thing, they sure are milking every last bit of drama out of it with the TBD on Carolina side.
nobody said make shitty moves. as is, this team is literally going nowhere but the lottery...so what? stay steady? run aground? die a slow death? is that the preferred option?Dubas says hi. Make moves, literally go nowhere.
