Eh, Garland and Parise don’t move the needle, though Parise’s cheap depth is useful.

Konecny is intriguing. NYI doesn’t have the cap space.

Konecny would be perfect but why why Flyers want to trade him, seems like a perfect Tortorella player and pretty much an old school Flyers type. Isles to get a winger for top line will have to move Pageau which is going to create a problem in Pageau role. We are going to see every cheap organizational player in the top line spot before isles consider external options.

When will Mr. Lame finally throw Lee and Holmstrom in the trash and play Wally and Gauthier. Not saying this will solve all our problems. But man, we really need to move away from these two (Lee and Holmstrom).

Also, Damn....can you imagine if we had another speedy winger to go along with Brazal??? He needs someone so badly it's not funny.

3 way trade - we get Garland and Pinto. Ottawa gets Ishkhakov, our second, and Vancouver's second. Vancouver gets Wahlstrom and Pageau. We send down Holmstrom and sign Pinto 2x2
You can't be serious? Do you honestly think Ottawa would take 2 2nd rounder and ishkakov? And you give way too much to Van for Garland. No way I'm trading both Pageau and Wally for Garland.

I think maybe they need a center too. Just posted this on the main board - curious to hear your thoughts.

Ottawa Trades: Shane Pinto
Ottawa Receives: Isles 2024 2nd, Vancouver 2024 Second, Ruslan Ishkhakov

Vancouver Trades: 2024 Second, Connor Garland
Vancouver Receives: JG Pageau, Oliver Wahlstrom

NYI Trades: JG Pageau, Oliver Wahlstrom, NYI 2024 Second
NYI Receives: Shane Pinto, Conor Garland
***NYI sends Simon Holmstrom to AHL, signs Shane Pinto 2x2***
Ottawa laughs at you....You'd have to offer a 1st rounder and more...for them to even take your call.

Yup, he’s young. I don’t see why a rebuilding team would part with a good player just entering his prime.

Rebuilding teams still need skill to support the youth.

JGP is an asset for the Isles but I think you’re overestimating his market value. He’s good at the dot but after that his other attributes are not worth his current AAV.

A rebuilding team would be foolish to part with a younger player with upside for a player like JGP. If the Isles are sellers that the TDL, I could see a contender being interested. Otherwise, nope.

In the grand scheme of the regular season a second half of a back to back against Buffalo in October will matter very little come May.
I have to disagree . Last seasons standings

Last 15 games of the regular season he was 5g 3a 8p +3 with a SHG. 15:09 ATOI

I don't hold the Carolina series against him specifically because nobody produced on offense.

But I see your point. And I would agree it's too early to give up on the kid's first line duties at this time.
Lane Lambert says, "hold my beer".

Oh they were incredible....ly bad.

Its also 5/8 points through 4 games. There have been worse things out there, especially when we haven't seen the brunt of what the islanders can do

However, I can say this. We are badly missing Parise.

I think the Islanders are badly missing a third line. For Pageau's entire tenure here besides the first season he is always stuck with the underperforming player or new guy. Having to play with Holmstrom, Gauthier, Lee, Wahlstrom, etc has been brutal on him. The best line he likely played with was actually Palmieri and Zajac when they had them.

I am not fully ready to throw Lee on that list because I think he has a lot more to offer but as an organization we need to view Lee as a 20-25 goal scorer instead of a 25-30 goal scorer.

We have to also play Gauthier and Holmstrom with Pageau. Make the 3rd line pressure more, and start rotating out Martin and Clutterbuck. Yesterday is a perfect example to show why we cannot throw the 4th line out in key moments. It just has become a detriment to this team.

However, I truly think the isles are in need of garland or pinto. They are gonna need some real winger depth. Holmstrom is fine but he isn't exactly THE offensive solution. Garland would be a good sneak option with Barzal and Horvat. Hell, the isles can benefit from a shorter player since everyone else is tall.

The isles don’t have enough speed to hide Lee, it might be wise to move on from him. Vancouver could use him as a net front presence.

Pageau and Lee haven't played together very much historically. Give them some time to gel and figure each other out and I think they'll be better.
