I dont think LA has a weak defense at all. Clarke will be very good, Doughty is still a top pair defenseman, Gavrikov and Anderson are also decent. They have a deep farm system they will find a goalie.

I agree - The Kings are a very good defensive team and their blue line is very strong, also their F group is also very strong away from the puck - overall, they know how to shut down their opponents.

What's there to understand?

PLD is an excellent addition for the Kings - I don't understand the criticism - Kopitar is what 36? PLD becomes heir apparent and slots in for the time being as the 2C allowing Danault to do his thing as the shutdown 3C and giving Byfield further time and less pressure to develop into C in the NHL. Even with trading Vilardi and Kupari they still have a ton of young F prospects in their system.

He missed on Panarin, yes. That's what we're going to be angry about though, a single miss on a star player? You're going to be upset a lot. The Islanders are second fiddle to the Rags and will be forever unless they turn to absolutely dogshit for an extended period of time while the Islanders are a playoff team every year. It is what it is.

There are two things that make me hopeful about Horvat. The first is that he can't possibly be as bad as he was once he got to the Islanders and having a full summer and training camp should help. The second is that the salary cap will finally start to go up now and will make some of these deals better over time unless something catastrophic happens.

I could see Buffalo going after Mayfield as a UFA and/or trade for Pesce. They need a boost defensively.
