I think NYR saw the Hughes injury as an opportunity to pass NJD over the next couple of weeks and pulled the trigger on this.

Wonder what happens with Kane now.
lots of rumors buzzing around....seeing Meier to Devils and Kane to Boston although I don't rule out Buffalo or him staying put to break Mikita's all time record for points

If I’m BUF I think I’d take the chance that I could sign him for free in the summer. They’d probably be his top destination.

NJD and CAR seem to be in a bidding war for Meier. Maybe we see a situation where Kane falls in to the Isles lap…
Buffalo 4 back of Caps with 3 in hand.....i they feel they can make the playoffs this season, Kane would be the perfect add for them

Taresenko to Rags for Blais Kravatsov and 1st

Basically a first.

Hopefully Bustatsov has a Buchnevich like career resurgence in STL

Rags better hope Taresenko regains his form and shoulder holds up

I think other people will be able to offer better packages but I agree we’d be cooking with serious gas if we added Meier.

Horvat-Barzal-Meier would be a lethal first line.
I just don't think they have the pieces right now to make a deal for Meier.

The best bet would be that the Sharks do not deal Meier until the offseason.

It would allow Lou to move Nelson, who will net a 1st round pick and prospect, giving Lou the cap space AND assets to acquire him.

There is so much smoke around Meier to the Devils and NJ has the bullets to do it.

This might be the best-case scenario, because Kane can be the get at the deadline... he will control where he goes and maybe Chicago can take Bailey as well. It would mean the 2024 1st will go probably with Wahlstrom.

In the offseason, they resign Kane and move Nelson for some futures. It can work.

Has to be a decent return for the Blues if they’re pulling the trigger already.
I don’t know. Tarasenko played only 38 games this year, and at the All Star game he looked out of shape.

Looks like the Blues are getting Sammy Blais back.

argh. Sometimes I think the only reason the Rangers do this is to piss us off...panarin, now tarasenko...come on..media had them going after other players, but they had to show us up.

I count first as decent, esp compared to the guesses/hopes earlier in this thread (a third and Salo? come on).

Anything extra on top of that is gravy, as you mention VT hasn’t been that great this year.

Not sure we were shown up here. Really happy with Horvat and the only player I liked as much was PLD.

A 1st for a rental - standard.

Tarasenko @50% and Mikkola to Rags for 2023 1st + Blais + nothing prospect.

Basically a 1st and scraps
What do you expect the price for Kane would be now?

Figure he controls where he wants to go? And this would be a similar package for Kane... I say send the 2024 1st + + for Kane and Jack Johnson.

Tarasenko (50%) + Mikkola
for 2023 1st, Blais (UFA), and RHD, Skinner (4th rounder playing in ECHL)

A comparable deal -
Kane (50% retained) and Johnson (UFA)
2024 1st + Panik (UFA), and RHD, Wilde

Isles can then roll out -
Horvat - Barzal - Kane
Lee - Nelson - Palmieri
Parise - JGP - Holmstrom/Bailey

Here is a look at a cap friendly for the offseason with a deadline deal for Kane (price - Wahlstrom, '24 1st, '24 2nd, and Bailey). Kane resigns 2/6 AAV (why? because he wants to win).
And then Isles move Nelson to Colorado for Newhook and 2023 1st during the offseason.

Sorry but they are not trading Nelson. They Islanders are not selling now.

As they have to move salary out, they might make a trade at the draft but not at the deadline.

Main board Trades & Rumors doesn't work for me, not quite 404 Error but classic HF
didn't work for me yesterday down on the Main Boulevard when i retorted your your comment on the Islanders not having pride....i was deemed unfunny and potilically incorrect

you would have gotten a kick out of the vowel-less initials i wanted to patent. they probably dinged me because they couldn't decipher the code

careening to 54

i can attest that i'll be at 87 by the time the penalty box lets me loose in April......

that's 87 percent of days since i joined this illustrious fun house that i've had some type of Scarlet Letter attached to my besmirched name

i'll get over the harsh stinging rebuke by

A: rejoicing in the Horvat acquisition and

B: gleefully saying the number for right now is 7---full Pitchers and Catchers report next Thursday just one scant week from this very day

crank up the BB thread and

LETS GO ISLANDERS!!!

Don’t forget Carolina May very well be looking for an add.

They're absolutely looking to add, they have a bunch of cap space. Just listened to Brind'Amour on Chiclets too and he mentioned that they'll get someone because of the Pacioretty injury.

The Islanders can't trade the '24 first rounder without a condition on it because it's already part of the condition on another trade. Most likely won't happen.

I don't see the Isles trading a 1st for Kane. He'd be either a rental or a shorter term deal if they did re-sign him. I don't see Lou sending out a 1st round pick for that. So far with the Isles he's only traded 1st round picks for guys he's extending and getting 4-8 years use from.

Someone like Meier is a different story, but you'd also have to budget a likely $9M salary starting next year.
