Why would Vancouver not let Lou talk to Miller? That stuff is pretty common in circumstances like this, no?

If Lamoriello wouldn't make the deal without Miller agreeing to an extension and Vancouver thought that was slim maybe they block it and take a lesser package so Lamoriello has to gamble?

Weird, my guess was that they had a general agreement and Vancouver decided to press things a bit and ask for more (ex: initial deal was for a first, Wahlstrom and a midlevel prospect and Vancouver tried to upgrade to Raty) and Lou wasn’t having it.

Wonder who this is in reference to? Not Dobson or Romanov obviously. Would imagine from the following, Aho will be back :)

DalColle? Bellows? Durandeau? Koivula? Salo? Wotherspoon? I think thats the entirety of the RFA group.

My assumption was Wilde, but he is not an RFA

If Romanov, Dobson, and Bellows’ signings add up to 8 and Isles bring back Greene and another depth d man at the league minimum - a Kane would have to be Bailey gets moved and Hawks retain. I would love to see it happen.

You keep Varly. Gs are $9M this year, next year Varly signs 2 yr deal, just like Fleury for ~AAV $3M. Sorokin is at $4M. You have $7.5M in G for 2023. 2024, if Sorokin lives up to billing, then he gets $6.5M. Cap will be up, back to <$10M for G tandem.
Yup agreed. Now, if the right offer comes around we should take it...but Lou shouldn't trade him just for the sake of it. Needs to be for the right return.

I rather trade Vary and his 5M cap hit. Sign Holtby for a 2 yr 2.5M contract. At the end of Holtby's contract, I would hope Skarek in Bridgeport would be ready as our backup. He's 22 now and had a decent year in Bridgeport.

Remember Holtby has history with our goalie coach in Washington where he played his best hockey.

We save 2.5M, move Bailey, now you have an extra 7.5M for FAs.

In a vacuum, yes. But if Lou wants to get the elite forward they need, he will need to create cap room now. That will most likely require trading Varly

Holtby is done IMO.
