Is it me or does Lane Lambert look like future George McFly?
I see a lot of Virgil Sollozzo in Lambert.

If Lou can swing a deal for tank we would be a pretty dangerous team if healthy.
I’m ok with that. Would take Isles in a nice spot and STL way out of it.

Are other isles fans ok with making a trade for Tank? Lou has been 100% resign on his trades for UFAs, Tank will be 31 next summer. (Zajac retired as the only unsigned traded for player).

Give them Beau and a 2023 2nd? (STL doesn’t have a second in 2023). Just looking at it, if they go south, they have 4 valuable UFAs to move on.

I would think that the scoring levels as we go through the season guide who we look for. We're 4th in goals per game, and if that holds constant, I would think we would look at two possible trade targets . . . someone like Soucy or Dunn (both in contract year) and another goalie who is also in a contract year.

Something like Beau and Salo for Dunn and a 2nd (Seattle has 3 2nds)

Then find someone like one of Ottawa' goalies as an emergency backup.

Amen to that.

I am not advocating to trade Barzal, I just want to see him take over a game like we've seen Sorokin do (albeit a little easier for a goalie to stand on his head) and even Dobson has done recently.

At least 1 gamebreaker at C, D and G is how Cup teams are built. Let's hope all 3 can continue to ascend.
In a way, Barzy does take over almost every game. He just does it in a way that is not reflected by goal totals. Without Barzy this season, you can cut the Isles' goal totals in half as well as possession numbers. That said, I'd like him to score more....

If the team is in playoff contention I'm not sure I see Beauvillier being a part of any trades, he has a history of being a big contributor that time of year and he's been around a while. Still too much time before the deadline to start any speculation like that I think, injuries are bound to happen.

Don't really see the need to trade Beauvillier unless he needs to be a part of acquiring a superstar, which is probably unlikely.

He's relatively young, relatively cheap and speedy, which is something this team is lacking on its NHL roster. Sure, he's a bit limited in offensive production, but he's good enough to keep around.

Now people want to keep Beau…this fan base is too funny.
I wouldn't say that.

I personally just don't think it would send the right message to make a trade right now using a current 'top six' forward. And I think during a five game win streak in the wrong time to ask the 'fanbase' if they want to make a trade for the hell of it.\

If we're discussing deadline deals, that's way too early and no one can objectively answer that question since there's so much hockey left.

Disagree. You trade for a superstar like Kane you are sending a message that we believe that this team is a Stanley Cup contender and we are going all in.

I think Lou is gonna look to add a vet bottom pairing LD and a top 6 forward to replace Wahlstrom at the deadline. REALLY don't want to move this year's first, but if we're in a position to contend you kinda have to.

The question then becomes why would Beauvillier be of interest to Chicago for someone like Kane? He's the third wheel of a second line. Albeit he is not currently hindering that line, but it's clear who drives it (Nelson).

If we are moving this years first it has to be for a top line guy ala Larkin/Horvat/Kane.

Lou's not gonna move a roster player like Beau for a rental. If any move is made it's for an upgrade on the 3rd pairing, and they have to think about the future cap. There simply isn't that much room so acquiring someone like Miller is probably out of the question.

Im not a cap expert, but taking a quick look the isles should have about 15 million in open capspace for next season, and the cap should also rise around 4 million. So about 19 million. Resign Mayfield say 4x4 and Varly 3x3. Thay gives Lou 12 million in space. Need to reup Sorokin, but that wont kick in until Bailey/Beauvillier/Martin/Clutterbuck contracts end. So hypothetically there is plenty of space to add a high salary player.

On a side note this offseason Lou needs to give Sorokin a blank check and get him locked up for life.

Of course it’s way too early, I’m just pushing the info out there. The Isles don’t have too many roster players to trade for a deadline upgrade or offset inbound salary, if needed. And this fanbase is obsessed with Lou trading away two first rounders to go for it and one first rounder for developing top 4 Dman that shored up a hole and will contribute now and for a number of years.

Absent injuries, bringing on a player like Tank pushes someone out of the lineup.

I don’t mind Beau, he’s been money in the playoffs, his regular season play is meh, but to get a Tank-like UFA at or near the deadline, bye bye.

He's moving it.

Anything short of a total collapse along the way has him going all in and at the moment, we don't have a legitimate #6 NHL defender or a regular winger for Barzal.

There are holes to fill and that's how he acquires players.

Well, let's hope one of Salo/Aho/Bolduc fill that hole from within then. Still a long way to go before the deadline. But if it needs to be moved to fill a hole to make the team more competitive, then so be it.

Oh right, they're not winning the Cup anyway...

That post makes me sad.

How many years can we go without a first round pick? Apparently more than we all thought.

Pretty risky for the franchise near term though not nearly as bad as the Brooklyn Nets mortgaging the future for James Harden.

It's a delicate balance. But if they win it all, for this franchise especially, I think it's WAY worth it.

I would argue that Beau is the one who drives that line. He carries the puck into the zone more than Nelson and he is the "dump & chase" guy. Nelson & Lee are the scorers on the line.

I don't know how Beau became the scapegoat du jour this year but so far, he has been producing points on a fairly consistent basis. Sure, he has had a few turnovers but so has everyone else on the ice in this somewhat looser system that Lambert is running.

One more year of Beau like this and he will be seen as a third liner.
