TheFourthPeriod says Isles working the phones on Bailey and Varly.
Specifically Nichols is saying this, and although I can sorta see them working the phones (less so on Varlamov), I don’t buy that he has any sources. It’s been weird, seems like a couple of young guys have popped up claiming they have insider info with the GM that is notorious for preventing info from getting out.

Nichols is employed by TFP, so anything he says is TFP saying it. He's not just some random nobody on Twitter like BD Gallof or even Chris Botta at this point.

I just have no stomach for a rebuild. We did that for 30 years and there’s no guarantees it can work or happen quickly.

We were conference finalists twice. Then had a messed up year. Give this core one more year to see what it actually is with a couple tweaks (top 4 PMD and maybe a sniper).

If 22-23 is a disaster, I could probably buy into a rebuild. But not today. Not after sucking for some many years and finally having a taste of some success.
Do you think I’m throwing “rebuild” around casually? I’m gonna be 60 and I paid for season tickets again next season, my 42nd. What I don’t have the stomach for is mediocrity. I’m not looking to be a perennial best-case-middle-of the-pack-let’s-just-get-in-and-hope-to-make-some-noise team.

We’re built to compete with teams that play a heavy game. The Capitals and the Bruins. The league is shifting towards speed and skill. Last season was the year that we should was the beginning of the end of the shelf life for our core. It’t didn’t work out, poor us. Stop trying to stretch it out. Make a tough decision Lou.

They’re gonna come up short this year.
31 teams do. It’s always an easy prediction to make about any team. Even Colorado is statistically less likely to win then lose this year. As repeating is statistically unlikely.

You have consistently called for rebuilding. And your opinion is as justifiable as anyone else’s.

But don’t let yourself get upset at other posters here. NOT that I am suggesting you are. Just take it as a general public service announcement.

Because regardless of what you, or I wish for… the decisions being made are not the responsibility of any here. That’s all on Lou.

So… that McDonagh trade, huh.
Wow totally missed this at first. I don’t know what to make of it… Total mishmash if you ask me! :sarcasm:

In all seriousness, I don’t know much of what Nashville is giving up. But I certainly prefer McDonagh over the overrated Ryan Ellis. Who Nashville moved last year

But to make the decision based on such a f***ed up year with so many extenuating circumstances is premature, imo. He’s owes it to the group and us to see what a normal year with this core looks like before blowing it up.

He owed it to that group last season. It didn’t work out. The league isn’t waiting for us to catch up.

I don’t follow… what do you mean by “owed it to that group last season?”

You also didn’t address the “extenuating circumstances,” as mentioned in the post you quoted. Do you feel that those were negligible?

You don't rebuild with the current squad and why the hell would we want to move up in a weak draft?? Whoever is picked at 2 or 3 is probably more like a 9-12 pick in a normal draft draft year. Heck, even the scouts are pretty meh on Wright and Slavkovsky.
in a weak draft like this? this draft is like 2019: You move up for a guy like Korchinski. or do you wanna wait for 2023 and wait for Sale or Benson lmfao

I don’t see how ‘employed’ means actual factual information…after all, it is a website making money off, well, advertising based on views/clicks.

I guess it depends on how much you value TFP as a reputable hockey media outlet.

I personally view them as one of the most credible hockey media outlets, so I don't view it likely that they'd be allowing James Nichols to be sprouting BS on Twitter if they weren't pretty confident in what he was saying. An employee saying bull on Twitter is an easy way to tarnish a big media outlet's reputation forever.

All the scouts agree this draft is pretty meh. Wright doesn't even project into more than a second liner. Korchinski might well be there at 13, and there seems to be little difference between anyone picked from 5-25.

How on earth would the Isles move up? Their next pick is 64, so 13 and 64 gets you what, 11? 12? Or are you thinking 13 and Wahlstrom to move up a few spots? lmfao.

scouts can also be wrong so screw them. modern scouts flip flop harder than someone trying to appease someone on election night

I would say some, very few, are reputable. The rest are just there to generate content for the site. Highly doubtful their ‘correspondents’ are employed as full time gig - more like a side passion. Considering a lot of times what is passed along is pretty obvious without much additional context, it’s mainly a bunch of borderline hearsay.
