I'm scratching my head over you today. You've been the biggest advocate of spending to get that one top player. This one put up 129 points in 94 games, including 14 in 12 playoff games and you don't want to pay him like a Top 15 player? He LED the league in BOTH +/- and even strength points.

If I'm Gaudreau, I look at the Flyers' "braintrust" (ie., you have to trust that they have brains) and how they've handled this thing and I'd want to stay far, far away.

I agree I think the Flyers are done...they would have to trade their 1st to get rid of JVR's contract and so far haven't so I don't know why it would change.

I think they'd have to clear out more than him too.

They've got 18 skaters on the roster, and $3.45M in space and JVR is only $7M, bringing their available space after Gaudreau signing to $.5M-$1.5M for 4 more players, which isn't possible (and they have 3 RFAs in need of a new contract).

Philadelphia is a premier place to play. I'm guessing he'd be happy to play there. It's different than a place like, say, Colombus or Buffalo.
