The "scratch and claw through the regular season for a WC spot and then see what happens in the playoffs" team is back, baby!
I knoe that team. The one that is forced to play balls to the wall for the last 30 games of the season just to make the playoffs then has nothing left by Game 6 of the first round.

Super plan Lou.

To be fair this year might be different. May miss the playoffs altogether. :)

This team only has 22 games left, so maybe can stretch out the 110% effort to the beginning of the ECF?

And it’s a fact that Rempe will be on the ice for the Rangers until he gets hurt, sent down, or the NHL bans fighting. Until then, I want someone on my team who will answer the bell. Pretty sure the players feel that way too.
I agree with you. And I don't want anyone to get brain damage.

Anyone who doesn't feel the dissonance thinks of the the players as objects, not people.

Like I said, it's a problem for the league.

Make no mistake: if Rempe was an Islander, both he and the organization would be lambasted for calling up a goon in the year 2024.
Lambasted by who? Paul Bissonnette?

I haven’t heard one bad word said about Rempe being called up by the Rangers.

What does this rempe fella do exactly besides fight? I mean, takes two to tango, so if no one fights him, then it’s a waste of a roster spot for the rags, no?

For a team that’s generally viewed as small and soft, Rempe allows the players to skate a little bit taller. The Rags are still muscling up after Tom Wilson showed how to beat the Rangers in the playoffs a few years ago. Captain Elbows, Goodrow, Ryan Reaves last year, now Rempe-who can actually play the game a bit.

To me it’s also no coincidence that the Devils traded for Kurtis MacDermid last week because the Rags brought up Rempe.

agree, there is a place still for intimidation in the NHL.

Rags vs panthers tonight. Who’s the goon on the panthers? You think Florida will shrink away from trying to beat the rags because they don’t have a big guy on the roster?

I think we have this one covered

I don't really get how people throw the term "bubble team" around like it's some terrible affliction. There are more bubble teams than those squarely in the playoffs each year. It's league parity. Being a bubble team does not equal doing something wrong.

Can't believe I didn't think of it earlier, but would not be surprised at all if Lou reacquired Eberle for a 2nd round pick. He probably feels guilty that he had to expose him in the expansion draft, and now that he's a pending UFA he can bring him back and make it up to him with a new 7-year deal.

Lou has stated he likes to acquire players he has a preexisting relationship with bc he feels it eases the transition of the player to his new team.

That's been discussed here and would not be a shock. However, there's talk SEA may look to extend Eberle.

I can't believe you didn't think of it earlier, either. You must have been in between fugue states and was thinking clearly.

the Devils lose to the Kings and the Caps lose to Arizona.

  • Flyers 71 pts 62 GP
  • Isles 66 pts 60 GP
  • Caps 65 pts 60 GP
  • Pens 64 pts 58 GP
  • Devils 64 pts 61 GP
The next few games this week - there is a real chance that the Isles claim 3rd in the Metro by next week.

Isles
  • Blues 3/5 - hopefully they can capitalize on the Blues playing back-to-back night
  • @ SJ 3/7
  • @ Anaheim 3/10
Flyers
  • vs. St.L 3/4 OTL
  • @ FLA 3/7
  • @ TBY 3/9
Devils
  • FLA 3/5
  • STL 3/7
  • @ CAR 3/9
Pens
  • @ EDM 3/3 - L
  • CBS 3/5
  • WAS 3/7
  • @ BOS 3/9
  • EDM 3/10
CAPS
  • @ Pitt 3/7
  • CHI 3/9
  • @ WPG 3/11
Flyers lose in a shootout - they get one point.

  • Flyers 72 pts 63 GP
  • Isles 66 pts 60 GP
  • Caps 65 pts 60 GP
  • Pens 64 pts 59 GP
  • Devils 64 pts 61 GP
Look at the Flyers next 10 games - @ FLA, @TBY, SJ, TOR, @ BOS, TOR, @ CAR, BOS, FLA, @ NYR. That is 9 games out of 10 against Teams playing with above 600+ Winning %.

The Isles next 10 games have them playing teams with 600+ only 3 out of the next 10.

I get the feeling that Lou stands pat and makes his moves in the offseason. If anything it will be minor depth forward add, wahlstrom going the other way and possibly another piece. Now that I’ve said this…blockbuster loading.

I think his 5 minutes of fame are over once the rangers send him down after aquiring extra bodys at the deadline

Yes and no I feel like this gets overused a ton. Did he have a preexisting relationship with Pageau, Horvat, and Romanov?
No, but it does add reason as to why he does acquire players he knows, which some seem to question ‘why?’ he does it.

On Horvat, he was scouted by NJ, they just elected to trade for the goalie.
