Major apologies from me, I’ll put both hands up and accept I f***ed up on that one. After a disappointing day of frustrating roster changes I was looking for an easy target to dunk on. No one deserves the kind of energy I sent your way unless they’re being an asshole, which you were not. Sorry once again.
Good of you.

Now go find some Rongos fans to troll.

Vaya con dios.

As far as the goalie situation moving forward, if they do really keep going back to the Gibson well and told it would take a first, they don't lack for late firsts to dangle going forward. Not saying they should, just that it's the rumor that won't go away for a position we need.

Ultimately, it all depends on how you look at the deals. If you break it down piece by piece, it's horrible for Carolina

- Necas + Drury+ picks for 3 months of Rantanen and Hall is a terrible deal

- A signed Rantanen for Stankoven and two 1sts is a terrible deal.

However, if you look at the entire sequence as one continuous deal:

- Necas + Drury for Hall + Stankoven and two 1sts is a pretty good deal

Once the dust settles, I don't disagree with any of that. My gripe is less with the FO than with all the 'experts' who do nothing but repeat tropes and platitudes. I expect it, but I'm nonetheless disappointed when it happens.

And, as stated elsewhere, those picks could still be turned into something else this summer, or later. We've got a lot of future and near-future assets, now we have to use them to fill holes for 25-26.

I mean if they give up a first for Gibson and Freddy is willing to re sign without giving one up fire the whole front office. I'll run the team.

Think we need to see how they both finish and then come playoff time if one of them steps up. I’d rather not bring back Freddie but might be no other options

I'd agree they should not do that. I'm not ruling it out given the number of assets we'll have, the persistent rumors, and the space to absorb him. I'd hope that some of the other teams that have signed better goalies long term but suck now might put their goalies on the market instead. And I've always said I have no issues bringing Freddie back unless he plays like that one odd game recently he played like the Fainting Goat.

Plus no one knows what's going to change for other team's priorities by draft day or start of free agency. It's no good saying "there's only one good guy available" or some such because things change all the time. Don't be cranky about the future yet -- there's plenty of time for that later!

Going into next season:

Svech - Aho - Jarvis
X - Stankoven - X
Martinook - Staal - Carrier
Jankowski - KK - Blake

Slavin - X
Nikishin - Chatfield
Ghost - Walker

X
Kochetkov

And… wait for it… approx. $35m in cap space to fill those 4 X’s. L M A O.

Yeah, wait until this offseason to set your final opinions about our future here.
That's why I mentioned recently if they want to move on from Ghost or Walker this offseason and grab two high end dmen for the eff you defense again, they might. They have so much spending flexibility.

I'd also try to move on from Koko.

In all seriousness, we have about the same amount of chance of winning the cup this year than we did even if we had kept Necas. Now we have another RBA favourite type player (see Blake and Jarvis) plus ammo to work with in the off-season.
This team seems worse off to me than before the Nachos trade, but I get your point. Still feels like a punt and another wasted year of some of our guys' prime--and I wonder how current players feel about that.

Just gotta hope everything really does come together in the offseason, I guess.

By puckpedia, we have $37M. With 4 $9M players we could acquire Vasilevskiy, Guentzel, Timo Meier, and Brady Skjei :sarcasm: (and then have $2.7M left over).

Yeah, I feel the same way too. Necas is a much better player today than Stank. But Stank will probably fit Rod's system better, is 22, and the way Rantanen was playing our team was worse with him than without him.

It seems like something is gonna get announced with hall in the days to come from what Andy Strickland is saying so you gotta pencil him in most likely. You can probably pencil carrier in for 30 games so his spot is really up in the air just cause he’ll he injured again likely. If nadeau keeps scoring and has a good camp next season may be hard to keep him off the team too

I get it, Necas has shown he can be a 70pt player in our system during the regular season but disappeared virtually every year he's been in the playoffs. We have gone equally far each year with Svech out or with Pesce out and and awful power play and penalty killing. I agree, we just have to hope we're able to weaponize all of these assets in the offseason for sure

It's not a size thing. Brad Marchand's 5'9". Seth Jarvis has been one of our better playoff performers. The notion that we need 6'3" monsters to compete with Florida, to me, misses why we lost to Florida and to New York, and that's because they got under our skin and won the mental battle.

They didn't bully us like a bully that beats you up against the lockers. They bullied us like the kid who's more popular than you and gets his friends to laugh at how funny your mom dresses you until you get so mad that your comeback makes you sound stupid and then they laugh at how bad you are at comebacks until the whole thing becomes a perpetual vicious cycle. Sure, having a guy that can just calmly punch that dude in the face to get him to stop can help the situation. But having a) guys that that doesn't get to or b) our own nasty little goblin boys who can out nasty the bullies is sufficient.

That stuff doesn't affect Aho or Jarvis. It sure affects others on the team. It sure affected Necas. If Stankoven is as spunky as his reputation, he's a guy that helps the "bullied in the playoffs" cause, not hurts it.
No Bully: Bennett creamed Slavin and no response
Jarvis got Trubaed with no response.

You have to have guys willing to defense the weak.

granted but KK is our only C with size and toughness.

Dobson and Bouchard are RFA’s coming up we got the picks to offer sheet guys. Bouchard would be a interesting off sheet guy and someone to pair with Slavin
