If he’s as good as you think he’s going to be there’s no way in hell he’s signing a bridge at the age he’s coming over. He’s coming over to make the big bucks asap. How old is he when he comes over? You think he won’t sign the big contract until four years later? Won’t he be beyond typical ufa age?

@Boom Boom Apathy this isn’t me being heated, it’s me being incredulous. Also I don’t really care, these are fun conversations. Still, point me to the Bojangles to see what that crap is all about.
The team will have plenty of leverage after his ELC ends and they aren't going to hand him a massive 8 year deal coming off 1 season (unless he wins the Norris or something insane like that in year 1).

Cheap 2 year ELC with a year burned signed in 2025 after KHL season ends.
2026, extended for 2 years $11M. This is "the big bucks asap." He'd barely make that over an entire career in the KHL.
With a 2 year sample size in 2027 he could get his big 8 year deal then. Wouldn't become a UFA until 2028.

Nikishin is closer to a Bedard than some random prospect when it comes to planning for him. There is a reason the team had him untouchable in Elias f***ing Pettersson (established top tier 1C) trade discussions.

Kuzy last season produced about what coconut would over 3 seasons, is only 31, and is motivated.

he is skinner in center form. His production is meaningless cuz his defense is atrocious.

very passionate of watching the other team score. He loves other teams.
Some people only see what is and some see the possibility.

Now, being honest...is this risky as f***? Yes! But the man is 31 and if he can find his form we will be a f***ing juggernaut. The man was ppg 2 seasons ago.

Besides you're one of the people talking about Slavin babysitting people. Just match Slavins D pair with Kuznetsovas line and treat them like a 5 man unit.

We now also have a premiere passer for Guentzel so other teams just can't match up with aho.

we have a premier passer for Guentzel, its KK. but i know that wont be received well despite its truth.

I can't get the unofficial CapFriendly numbers because they haven't updated yet, but if the 50% retained applies like I think to a Kuznetsov buyout after this year:

$1.9M cap hit in 24-25 for each team
$1M cap hit in 25-26 for each team

That's if this blows up worse than Kotkaniemi. Which I think is more than possible.

unless we are going to give him some chemical help like he had in 2018, i wouldnt count on it.
Sir...did you not receive the memo to stock up on meth?

Lol the guy so slow he is 2 zones behind the offensive play 🤣? And a career high 25 assists playing with Svechnikov and Necas?

This releases the Canes to trade KK or Drury to St.Louis for Buchnevich

Svechnikov. Aho. Teravainen

Guentzel. Necas. Buchnevich

Martinook. Staal. Jarvis

Noesen Kuznetsov Drury or KK

necas aint playing center. We would quickly become the weakest center group in the playoffs with Kuzy and Necas playing center.

I’m not seeing any leverage on a KHL stud who doesn’t need to come over unless he wants to, who’s a lot closer to freedom than your average first year guy. His elc will put him a year away from ufa? Tkachuk changed the landscape on that last year of “control”. Look, I think he’s going to be great. I really do. I also think you think the highest end positive thing is going to happen on every aspect of him now including his contracts. It’s probably not ALL going to come true, right?
