My dream today is we can convince Vancouver that Lindholm is an absolutely terrible fit and that they need KK as their long term 3C option.

JG - Aho - Svech
Turbo - Lindholm - Necas
Noesen - Drury - Fast
Martinook - Staal - Jarvis
I think JR does in fact like coconut a lot. There was smoke about him being asked about when all the JT Miller rumors were swirling.

JR now is your chance to get your man locked up long term.

Now that tidy piece of business is done let's talk Crosby

Kotkaniemi + Morrow + ? to give Sid the ol man another shot at the cup with his good buddies Staal and Guentzel?

Oh is he playing next year? Also how long do you think his first contract will be? How old will he be his first year here? If he’s as good as we hope he’ll be cheap for a pretty short period of time, then he’ll cost just as much.
But if you're planning on him coming, you don't want to have Slavin and Skjei already locked down long-term when you need to pay Nikishin.

I think the solution is either a trade or a bottom pair signing short-term as a band aid.

Slavin-Burns
Orlov-Chatfield?
UFA-UFA/Morrow?

I think they at least give Morrow a fair chance to make the team out of camp next year. Combined with a chance to join the press box for the playoff run this year, I think he will sign after this season.

Of course you’d want them both signed and “blocking” his path. God forbid he actually earn his spot. We don’t have anyone signed. We’re going to sacrifice next year because of what Nikishin may or may not b the following year? I’m no longer sold on Orlov being a very good second pair guy on this team next year. He still doesn’t look like himself or very comfortable. There is no sense in planning the team around Nikishin. If we end up having three good lefties you enjoy that for a year and change when it’s best for the team. It’s a wonderful problem to have, not something to actively avoid.

we have Orlov next year, not keeping Skjei isn't about next year at all lol. Nikishin will be on steal contracts for probably 3 years then get a big long term deal. And he's probably better than Skjei right now as it is, let alone comparing him to an aging Skjei 3-4 years from now. I love me some Skjei but unless we're planning to play him or Boom on their off side it makes zero sense to pay up to keep him.

I don’t think I’ve seen a guy his age when he comes over on a three year elc. I’d assume part of pitch will be a two year. I think there needs to be a refresher on elc’s. Panarin wasn’t on a three year, was he? He was a FA tho.

I certainly hope the team does not sink the future of this squad on how you think.

I think we need an HFCanes Fight Club thread (sponsored by Bojangles). There have been quite a few heated, ongoing debates recently so maybe make a thread where those can be hashed out.

I'm not going to claim he's going to be better than Skjei right now, but I do agree part of the Orlov move was to prepare for transitioning away from Skjei's UFA demands.

And I do think Orlov-Chatfield has been a pairing that works. If they choose to sign Pesce, I think Orlov-Pesce would work.

he gets a 2 year ELC with one of the years burning during the 24-25 season. Then we decide if we give him another year bridge at around 2 million or so or we go risky and give him an 8 year deal.

i dont know about the better than Skjei right now part.

Maybe he got tired of DW's shit and asked for a contract termination so he could find a good opportunity for himself. At this point in the season, he's not giving up too much money to just walk away and spend the rest of the season with his kids instead of playing in Chicago. He can do the math and see he is fourth on the depth chart now and won't be sniffing playing time the rest of the way.
I think Raanta is a smart man and knows his play, when he was available was below par, knows why we brought in a 4th netminder, and understands why he is where he is. I doubt very seriously "hes tired of DW's shit"
