That’s fine. I don’t have a problem if they keep Rossi in the top 6. But I expect Yurov to make his way to a scoring line rather fast. Maybe they put Ek father back on the third line:

Kaprizov-Rossi-Zucc
Boldy-Yurov-Xhgren
Khusnutdinov-Eriksson Ek-Hartman
Foligno-Gaudreau-Lauko
Trenin

That’s a pretty deep forward group.
you forgot Boeser! The Wild have said they have a couple players identified for Free Agency already, Boeser to Wild is about as automatic as Vanek to Wild was

Doesn't mean it always has to.
Agreed. However, Foligno/Trenin/Hartman/Gaudreau are locked in through at least the 26-27 season. A scoring 3rd line with Rossi would need to look like Khusnutdinov-Rossi-Hartman. Speed, playmaking, finishing. I like that mix.

100% view him as a target, but did not include players outside the organization. He would take Ewgren's spot if he is signed. Ehgren down to 3LW. Khusnutdinov to 4C.

Kap-Rossi-Zucc
Boldy-Yurov-Boeser
Yougren-Eriksson Ek-Hartman
Foligno-Khusnutdinov-Trenin
Gaudreau

It would be crazy if they signed Boeser and traded Rossi because they "couldn't afford to keep him" (or whatever they will say).

I don't consider Hartman to the same as the other 3, and I'd be eyeballing Ohgren or Heidt for that LW spot.

If we bridge Rossi at $5M next year and Khusnutdinov at $2M, we'll have ~$6.5M to spend depending on any overages this year, leaving ~$1M in space.

So like Heidt-Rossi-Hartman? That is good in my books. Ohgren-Rossi-Hartman might have too much of a shooter lean to it lol

Somewhere in time
In the Dallas game I love how when the Wild scored Wes Walz was saying the whole play started „from a Faceoff win by Boldy“. This feels like a synonym of how the organisation is viewing Rossi. He wins the faceoff but nobody actually appreciates his boring play. Even something like a clean FO win (to Boldy) is credited to someone else. Intentional or not this is becoming a theme.

And of course one of the best scorers on the team is not out on the ice when the team needs a goal.

Now I do not know the master plan behind all this, maybe they don’t want to pay him or cannot pay him. Maybe he really does not fit the system of Hynes. Maybe he is lacking those pics MarJo seems to have. But I don’t see a longtime future for Rossi in MN and that has nothing to do with the player. Very frustrating time for Rossi supporters! Probably overreacting but it still sucks

Weird that Walz would misspeak. He never does that :sarcasm:

Well it's hard to know if that's all it was, he also said that Zuccarello was the QB of the PP and the PP runs through Zuccarello earlier in the game

I prefer we target someone with speed over Boeser. We finally have some team speed and bringing out Boeser & Zuccarello in the Top 6 will slow us down and lower our overall compete level. Let’s add a RHD or a speedy 3rd liner.

I think between Yurov, Ohgren, Heidt there is an internal solution to depth scoring in the middle 6.

Kap-JEE-Zucc
Yurov-Rossi-Boldy
Ohgren-Hartman-XXX
Foligno-Marat-Freddy
Trenin/Heidt

Middleton-Faber
Brodin-Spurgeon
Hunt-XXX

He may be making mistakes intentionally to push a team message like a subliminal propagandist, or he may just be bad at his job. Taking it a step further, it's hard to know if the refs are intentionally fixing games or are just under the belief that "game management" makes the game better overall, and sometimes fixing them accidentally as a result. And what about GMs and their weird decision making? Or the Department of Player Safety being just so random in its judgements and punishments?

Instead of leaping to conspiracy theories, I think it's wiser to address the potential that it's simply incompetence and work your way up from there. Either the NHL is filled with ingenious masterminds who can slip from their true personas to another of bumbling incompetents to mask their true, nefarious intent, or they're actually mostly just jocks who got jobs from an old boys' club and are actual incompetents. I know which I believe is more likely.

I didn't think I was pushing any conspiracy theories, I was just saying it's hard to know if Walz misspoke or if he meant to say what he did for whatever reason he meant it

Fair enough. In the context of what MrRuin said regarding Rossi, it seemed like you thought "intentionally or not" might be intentionally. That's how it came off to me, but I must have misread your intent.

I'll let my point in that post stand for the others around here who think Rossi is being done dirty intentionally.

I feel like they do run the PP through Zuccarello. Whether they should is another question.

I don't see that at all. It runs through Boldy for the most part. Zuccarello is on the offside.

I just see time after time, him with the puck looking for the cross-ice pass. Maybe that's not what "running through" means though.

Well I guess Walz agrees with you. I see Boldy dictating the play far more than Zuccarello does though.

I see this too. I think some powerplays "run through" a focal player, usually at the point, who can see the whole zone of ice in front of him. In the Wild's case, I think it runs through the wings in an east-west fashion. Saying it doesn't run through Zuccarello is saying it doesn't run through anyone, and saying it does is saying it runs through both he and Boldy. Both are right in their own ways.

I see this, but Boldy plays on the strong side, and Zuccarello plays on the weak side, and that's why I feel it runs through Boldy. It spends more time with him on his side.
