I think it typically is up early in the season because refs start out calling more penalties and it wanes down as the year goes on.

That doesn't explain why it was up compared to other seasons up to that point.

Anyway, my argument is invalid haha

Well if you're comparing Oct-Nov this year to all of last season it would. I don't know how you would compare say the first two months this year to the first two months last year easily as that data isn't available. You'd have to manually do it.

I don't think we'll see him until they're mathematically eliminated, if they are that is.
Definitely possible, and maybe even closer to reality based on yesterday's game. I just can't imagine a scenario where they don't give Hank at least one softie game to get his feet back under him as the backup until Shesty is healthy.

I think we can resign Strome (has to be low AAV) but under no circumstances at all should he get any move protection. Strome extended should make him more valuable and then that will be the point to bamboozle another team's GM. I mean, perhaps Strome goes on to be just as successful but I'm fine moving on from him. He doesn't seem like the type of player you win a championship with.

Zibs projected stats over 82 games should be 102, not 74. You can't take his injured games into account and then say it is projected over 82 games. 65 points in 52 games is 1.25 ppg or 102.5 over 82.

What makes you think I didn't? You know me better than that

FYI: It's easy to find standings from a certain date, and then add up the numbers in the GF column

I understand that Derek Brassard is not the player he once was. But how would he look centering Panarin? Worse than Strome? He shoots left, which would be a benefit playing with Panarin. And most likely would cost much less than Strome.

I genuinely don't know what this narrative is trying to communicate. Tyler Bozak didn't strike me as an important player on a cup winning team but here we are.

This is mystery box thinking, respectfully. I don't think a 1 year deal for Strome would be cost prohibitive for this Rangers team.

I figure we will be lucky to be a .500 club the rest of the way no matter who is in the net . Having a forward on defence and Staal and then two rookies in Lindgren /Fox and a guy like Tony thinking offence 90% of the time...and not even going to mention Trouba ...proof is in the pudding there and then the eye test. Anyways...the other clubs we are competing with also have faults and are no locks either . We need to win games against clubs like us who are battling and steal the odd points against the powerhouse clubs and that will take a total team effort of a rebuilding club lest we forget that . We will lose some and win some...it has been an enjoyable season for this 50 year Ranger fan . For that I am thankful.

Yeah I can't see Hank playing another NHL game. He's a decent even-strength goalie but he's AHL calibre on the P.K. Maybe it's his poor reflexes and reaction time due to age. Should just retire.

Idk if Chytil can anchor a 2nd line himself yet, but I think he could center a line with Panarin just fine. Trade or sign for a defensively responsible 3C, someone like Derek Ryan/Chris Tierny/Radek Faksa/Zemgus Girgsensons/Johan Larsson/Derick Brassard. Minnesota is looking for centers, maybe they’d swap Joel Eriksson Ek with Strome for more scoring. The Leafs are paying Jason Spezza $700k to center their 3rd line right now.

I am not dismissing the possibility of this happening but also Tyler Bozak was the 3rd C behind ROR and Schenn. His AAV of $5M might be what Strome could sign for. I just see them as playing two different roles. That's the important comparison because otherwise you could just pull any random name off the cup and say the same thing. I don't see Strome winning championships in the 2C role. Maybe he makes too many mistakes, maybe he's not winning those board battles you need to win in the playoffs, or maybe I just haven't seen him in that type of contest and he has another level we haven't seen him hit. But with the information I have now, trading him (again the return is another thing I can't see right now) seems like a direction that moves our roster forward more. 100% should be explored.

im a huge fan of Faksa, brings some grit, battle and size to the Rangers, decent on faceoffs too

Faska to NYR for Hajek and 2ed in 2020?

I fully expect Strome to come back 2 years 10 million dollars.

This isn’t a philly thing, hank can’t move laterally and square up anymore. Not quick enough on the PK. He’s been exposed short handed all year. His 5 on 5 is not too bad. But he kicks rebounds into the slot all day long with no ability to recover quickly. He’s so deep he’s vulnerable to deflections and doesn’t have the reflex speed to make the saves off of them.

he’s been trending in this direction for 4 years now. It’s over. No nhl team is going to take him over a healthy 25 to 30 year old option that can actually move at this speed. I’d honestly be really surprised if anyone does take that chance outside of the SHL.

I’m thinking they trade Strome for a RFA #3C (who will actually be paid like a #3C.) Hockey trade. Or trade him for assets and sign one. Hajek wouldn’t crack Dallas’ defense. I could see Dallas wanting Strome, right now they have Jason Dickinson centering Hintz and Gurianov lol. That team could use more goals, and Strome’s poor defense wouldn’t be an issue in their system.

Man, even if Lias became nothing more than a #3C, he’d fit perfectly next season. Shame.

Some of the Lundqvist takes around here are either absolutely comical or woefully ignorant. Come on, people, the guy didn't start a game in a month. What were the expectations, exactly? He let in 5 goals against a really hot team. So did Georgiev. The T-E-A-M needs to be better if they really have playoff aspirations.

I get what you're saying, but to be completely honest, 3 of the 5 goals he gave up were not good ones. The 2nd (Zibanejad wasn't blameless on this one) and 4th one (He completely took himself out of position for no reason) in particular were really bad.

Yes rust was a factor, but both of those goals came on sequences I would expect him or anyone else to handle with out any trouble. I didn't love the 1st one either, but that was a bit of a broken play made worse because Staal is useless.
