Just send Kakko to the AHL jeebus.
Let him at least finish out the year some place where he will be productive.
Not sure that is accurate. Just the length. I think the thought process is that his camp would want him to hit UFA before he is 30. Which is not to say that he would not take a 4 year deal. But then again, we do not know everything. I would bet on him taking a 4 year deal vs him taking a 1 year bridge. Then again, it is one thing to be young and cocky. It is quite another to be willing to continue to take chances by placing bets on yourself. That all sounds great in theory. And then someone is willing to plop nearly $40m into your lap. Perspectives tend to change at that point.Anecdotal evidence along with what our plugged in posters are saying points to Tony not wanting a long term deal
I could’ve sworn Poti hit 50. Turns out it was 48. Aside from the feistiness, DeAngelo’s game is actually really similar to Poti’s. The difference? That type of game is very valuable in today’s NHL and was absolutely not during the Dead Puck Era.
Poti did manage to solidify his defensive game eventually.
Yeah. Sending him down would basically crush his confidence when he seems to lack it anyway, besides who would you bring up?That ship has sailed.
Neither did Tom Poti, who led the Rangers in blocked shots every season it was recorded.ADA doesn’t carry a purse.

everyone focusing on the kakko part but I think the bigger take away is Shesterkin in his own night. that tells me he's gonna play tomorrow
Probably.
i hope they aren’t rushing him back to save the season.

Their next opponents are New Jersey and Dallas. If he’s playing in either of those games, he’s ready. You don’t rush a goalie back to beat teams that can’t score. It's the Rangers. I'd say 85% chance they are

Is there any proof of them doing that? Anyway we’re talking about a fractured rib, he’s not coming back from a major injury.Normally I’d agree with you but this is the same organization that tried to rush Shattenkirk back from knee surgery after their season was clearly over.
What would stop them from doing it when they actually have something to play for?

Yeah, if we didn't have the RD situation we have I think Tony would have no issue with signing a long term deal - but since he probably realizes there is a chance he is traded I could see him not wanting to sign long-term before he can get trade protections or the situation resolves itself in another way.The problem is that a long-term deals make him tradable to all other 30 teams in the league and he would have no say whatsoever about it.
With his stats, he will get paid well in arbitration. It’s not like he will get 2m for 1-2 years and 7m on a longterm deal. What is he getting in arbitration with these stats? 6.25m? Why sign a 7 year long term deal for 7.5m? All of a sudden he has to play the coming 7 years in EDM...

Lou is definitely that stupid. Would it happen? I doubt it.Are the Islanders stupid enough to trade Barzal?
