Miller, despite OT goal would be a 3rd LD on a playoff team. Also, we really do need a #2 RW, and a 3C. We get that, then I’ll believe we can go farther. Ideally we get a #2 C, but that might be pushing it inseason. Unless Hertl doesn’t re-sign.

Beyond the upgrades at those spots, it also adds depth since it slides a lot of guys down, and we don’t absolutely need everyone playing out of their minds.

The cap issues can be handled it the offseason if we go this route. I’m really not on the rental train, I’d prefer to get someone at least under contract through next season. This way assets can be recouped and maybe we can even do it without trading core pieces. Georgie and Nemeth out for Kincaid (or another minimum backup) is a few million saved by itself. I’d bet we could work it out later.

McKegg stinks but I havent seen anything out of Barron that really makes me go “wow” either.

But yes, i’d rather Barron over him.

Any time Barron plays he really is noticeable in a good way multiple times a game. McKegg is pretty much invisible.

Tough to get much worse 5v5 than they are right now so I'm pretty sure that's what will do them in.

McKegg over Barron is stupid at this point. I would also like Barron over Gauthier, but at least there you can make the argument that Gauthier is faster so he’s needed on the 3rd line over Barron.
I don’t agree with it, but at least you can make the argument.
McKegg has speed and nothing else. It’s not opening things up for other players or advantageous at all. He’s just subpar. At least Gallant got his act together with the Jones-Schneider pair.
Maybe he’ll see the light on Barron too..... hopefully soon.

he’s definitely a net negative. Even if gallant doesn’t want to play Barron, I’d rather see a kid up from the AHL for McKegg like Ruesschoff or Greco. I don’t understand how this guy has such a long life with Gallant.

Those were different teams. The Torts system was block everything. This is a very differebt roster and also coaching philosophy. Not to be a negative Nancy, but we will get lit up rd. 1 currently.
