If the Rangers hold onto two picks, there's a chance they could come away with some good forward depth.

Now, having said that, I think it's important to note that landing a player with a more immediate impact will be difficult if the picks hold steady at their current positions. However, there's still a chance to get a mix of floor and ceiling with two picks, in an attempt to keep things balanced.

So if you look at the TSN rankings, you could have a scenario where the Rangers grab a kid like Holloway at 14 and Mysak at 20. One a utility player who could serve a valuable support role, the other a guy with some intriguing offensive upside who brings with him some risks.

And I have to tell you, while it's no lottery win, I'd be very okay with that.

I don't think the Rangers need to go for immediate impact, especially now with Kreider re-signed, but they do need high-upside on whatever time frame.

I think they want upside, it's just that can be a tricky word.

When people think upside, I think they automatically think of offensive numbers and that's not necessarily always the case.

I think the Rangers could be in an interesting situation this draft, especially if they fall in the 11-16 range, where there might be some guys on the board who strike a balance between upside and being a good fit.

The removal of the two line pass rule has players coming at defensemen at a higher pace and with lighter gear And fitter Faster players most D MEN can’t as effectively turn and move the puck up ice and protect themselves on their off side . It’s more about the d zone then it is at the offensive blue line .

I don't disagree but teams play vastly inferior players just to get the right handedness rather than even try something different. Fox, Trouba, DeAngelo are our three best dmen. They are all RHD. Rather than one getting less ice time on the third pairing so we can play stalwarts such as Staal or Smith it makes sense to see what happens by experimenting with all of them on their off side.

if you have the right personnel for it, great, but if you’re just giving worse players extra TOI to fit a system it’s probably not a good idea

I really don't know where the rangers will have any cap space to sign any UFA that is making over $1mil next year unless we plan to trade someone or Lundqvist retires.
Point taken, and I wonder if this lack of any games is some sign that FO plans to buy out Hank, but we need to find some way to get good bottom nine F depth if we’re serious about competing now or soon.

Or they could use them all on their RD side and have ADA and Fox play ~18 minutes each per game, more or less depending on the game situation. Like maybe use their strength at RD as an match up advantage that could have them among the lead leaders in scoring for defenders instead of weakening it?

Maybe ADA can have some rookies over for diner or something.

Lundkvist and Fox are the two that are interchangeable in terms of style/role. TDA has a speedy/dynamic side neither of those two have.

One of NL or Fox should definitely be regarded as a trade chip, and I would definitely prefer to bet on Fox. Think he is really special.

Nils is darn impressive, and he would provide a really nice return in a trade too I imagine.

I’d let NL’s trade value rise. Watching him at the prospects camp he looks like Fox except you can tell he’s a few year younger in person. Yes, he could be a chip yet I prefer him sold at a high for an equally high winger.

Lundkvist+ for Glass.
that's what I was looking at.

A lot of other teams that have nice pieces, already have RHD.

edit. His value skyrockets if/when he comes here and shows he belongs. I'd take ADA on the left side for a year before moving anyone.

I'd love to find a way to get Kaprizov from MIN. We have the quantiity that they need.

He'll be on his ELC but perform like a vet. Replace Fast with Kaprizov...

Sounds like Andersson/Chytil

How would we feel about a trade revolving around DeAngelo and Sam Reinhart? Both guys are rfa after this season, around the same age. Dunno if that’s something buffalo would do, but I love that dudes game.

I understand the cap will be tight but why trade ADA when we've been looking for a guy like that since leetch. I mean look around the league. Who else compares to his play style? Makar, hughes, ADA. All game changers from the back end. I understand that sometimes he makes mistakes on the back end but his positives far out weigh his negatives. Dude is a stud
