you have no clue what the stipulations or conditions on that were.
Yes edge reported it.
But there’s no way in hell the Kings were Offering the 8OA( their pick this year)+ Kupari for an unsigned Buch.
We also don’t know what if anything was going back to LA as part of the proposed trade.
Edge touched on it, but he didn’t elaborate.

Drury absolutely targeted Blais. I really wish he was healthy and with the team for this years playoff run... his game is Taylor made for it

Didn't have to be the 8th overall pick. The pick we got from STL wasn't for the 2021 draft either. The reported return was a 1st round pick. Most likely, a top-10 protected pick in 2022 as that lines up with lottery requirements. A 1st in 2022 + Rasmus Kupari was miles ahead of a 2nd in 2022 + Sammy Blais.

I'd even say Kupari is a better fit for this team than Blais in a vacuum because this team sorely lacks what Kupari brings. His ability to enter the zone (As we have seen against us) is something this team desperately needs to build sustained pressure.

We’ve discussed this a ton already. You need to get over it.

Miller would be an upgrade btw, not a replacement.
Am upgrade over Buch? Lmao, I’m probably one of the only ones here who sees him on a fairly regular basis living in Vancouver. Ask Tob, Miller is not a different player than he was here. He’s in a bigger role but he is still as dumb as ever

Chytil isn't better than Kupari? What has he done in Ontario since he's gotten there? LAK? I'd rather have Blais and use the second on a rental like Reilly Smith than take another magic beans center that people would be crying about underperforming here.

Inside the start of a new Canucks regime, what’s next for Brock Boeser and trade deadline targets

"An intriguing name that we keep hearing linked to the Canucks as a player they regard highly is New York Rangers prospect Vitali Kravtsov.

Kravtsov, 22, was a top-10 pick of the Rangers in 2018. Although the skilled 6-foot-3 power winger still had a year remaining on his three-year entry-level contract, he spent this season in the KHL playing for Traktor Chelyabinsk where he had six goals and 13 points in 19 games prior to the cancellation of what remained of the KHL regular season.

Now there’s no shortage of rumours when it comes to the Canucks and various Rangers prospects, particularly in the wake of the ongoing speculation regarding New York’s high interest level in Canucks leading scorer J.T. Miller.
Our sources were split as to whether Kravtsov had ever been part of any latent trade discussion between the Rangers and the Canucks, however. What is clearer is that Kravtsov is a player of interest for the Canucks and that interest may not necessarily be tethered to any of the flashy star-level players popping up in Canucks-centric trade rumours as we approach the NHL’s silly season.

Kravtsov, in fact, fits a more general mold of what the Canucks are primarily targeting in the weeks and months leading up to the NHL trade deadline — namely, young, skilled players with significant potential that fall within a 20-25-year-old age range."

wtf is a latent trade discussion?

Now you're just using bad faith BS to suit your bias. His role has changed because he's become top line player & a top 20 scorer over the past 3 years. I understand some not wanting to give up prime assets for him, but you nobody who'd being honest can deny he would make us a better team.

How many guys in the league can pull this off.

It’s close. This team def needs centers, but Blais ( who should be here a while) should be an important player for this team especially in the playoffs.
The only person they have on the roster that hits like him is trouba, and he doesn’t do it as frequently.
If the offer was Kupari + a lotto protected 23 1st, it would make more sense.
Drury obviously felt Blais would have helped this team in the physical category, while also having enough skill to move up and down the line up wherever needed.
Basically being a more physical, younger, cheaper replacement for Fast.
I have no doubt he wanted/targeted Blais. Getting guys like him for under 2mill a season is tough.

Kupari would have drowned here in between Laf and Goat just like Chytil did after his stretch of great games. It was a no win situation for Chytil. Laf has looked no different on any line he's played on so far this season and Goat is just not enough of a complete player to be a third liner. I'm surprised they did as good as they did for that stretch.

I think this is kinda laughable. Laf has looked night and day when separated from Chytil this year. Chytil’s been a total black hole in the middle.

I’ve never been enamored with him the same way some people here have been. His value to the organization IMO is as a trade piece. He just comes off as a huge change of scenery guy since I see no reality where he all of a sudden starts flourishing here.

I thought Laf-Chytil-Gauthier looked pretty good through November back when we were playing hockey for a stretch.

Then we went back to whatever it is we usually do.

I didn't say it was the 8th overall, did I?

I think it's fair to deduce that when Edge reported it was Kupari and a first that it wasn't actually Tyler Madden and a third, though.

We also don’t know what if anything was going back to LA as part of the proposed trade.

You are fabricating ambiguity where there is none. He said it was Buch for Kupari and a first. While that doesn't touch on what year's first it was or if it was protected or not, a first is still a first and it's better than a second, and there is no reason to believe there was any other substantial components of the deal or they would have been reported on.

Unless you just don't believe Edge.

Truth. Edge also didn't say whether the NYR passed on it or LAK pulled it. But I think we can all say that IF LAK offered straight up the 8OA and Kupari for just Buch, unsigned, and WE turned it down, then our GM should have been institutionalized immediately.

Yes, he did say that NY passed on it. He says they chose the Blais offer over the Kupari and a first offer.

lulz

We would put Miller at center. We're not getting another winger to keep rolling with Chytil. They had Goodrow at 3C the last time Chytil was healthy. He's done at center.

I don't see why the org wouldn't give Chytil a chance at wing, especially if we are moving on from Kravtsov. We need young wings too.

I just don't see it. Getting more minutes is always going to be helpful but he's consistently behind the play. His shots are always getting deflected because he can't create space for himself or his teammates at the moment.

If Kupari ends up a top 6 center, it's not close at all. It's laughably bad, in fact.

Even middle 6 center >>>> Bottom 6 grinder.

It's a ridiculous narrative that somehow Sammy Blais is the key to a cup. The kind of player you can find in any free agent class or trade deadline.

Who needs top talent, we need dime a dozen grinders with shitty metrics.

But homers will talk themselves into anything to excuse the team.

We need young, skilled forward talent, and we need it desperately more than we need a Sammy Blais. Is he a nice piece? Yes. But he's an afterthought compared to how much we need young skilled forward talent.
