I'll say this, the NYR SHOULD be getting back a 1+Kaut type player, but I think many of you would be disappointed with that type of return, especially after seeing what Coleman returned (not a rental but similar to when we had Grabner (rental)), Hall, etc. Seems like other teams' fans want to lowball and see Kreider has a third-line winger, one they clearly don't watch enough of if they think that. Man, I'm honestly glad tomorrow is the final day.

That Kovy add just made OVI pretty happy. Two scoring threats from the same side of the power play and they’re both from the motherland.

Was a huge Kovy fan when he was with Hotlanta. Was furious when he got traded to Jersey for practically nothing. Loved when he screwed them over.
He was so good for the Devils. Played like 30 mins a night for them in all situations. He actually blessed them out of that disaster 17 yr contract.

I think the Rangers have a $6.5M at 6 years on the table for sure. I think they could go $6.75m. Not sure they do that deal for 7 years.

Final offers could be $6.75x6 and maybe (big maybe) 6.5x7.
Tomorrow is gonna be a brutal waiting game

Bergevin's done well. Acquired Kovalchuk and Scandella for 4th and ended up getting a 2nd, 3rd and 4th a few months later.

Pencil me in on seeing if Kovalchuk wants to come here in the offseason. Can still play, a year on a deal with an improving team, not to mention, being another veteran to add to one of the youngest teams in the NHL.

Shouldn't cost much either, and if it doesn't work, he's a guy that seems willing to part ways and go somewhere else.

The same Kovalchuk that basically anyone could have had for free 2 months ago?

Also, it’s not like Kovalchuk’s time in Montreal was so amazing. He started hot, but ended up with 13 points in 22 games. Prorates to 48 in 82. And he’s a completely one dimensional player. There are arguments for why Fast would be the more valuable.

You know what’s crazy? This is going to be only the 4th NHL post season Kovalchuk has ever played in.
