I really want Robertson from TO to link up with his brother. Both killing it in the OHL right now.

Edit: they are not brothers but still. Nick Robertson should be at the top of our list for Kreider if TO is a buyer.

we could get both and then put sam on an endless loop of explaining that the 2 are brothers but matt isn't related to either brother.

ADA is better than Trouba and Fox. He is easily a better PP QB than both of them. It wasn't a suprise when he was out last week that our PP looked like shit.

I have no interest in trading Fox, but I would 100% move Trouba before moving ADA. I just think it's absolutely crazy to move this kid, when we have waited 20 years for an offensive dynamo like him. He is having one of the best seasons ever for a Rangers RD. Why are we trying to pretend like that's not happening?

The talent has always been there. It's always been about consistency and getting his crazy head on straight. Now that we invested the time to do that, and he truly seems to have grown and become nearly what we want him to be, we're going to sell that?

ADA is one of the most valuable pieces on this team concerning the rebuild. Trading him would be a far bigger hit to this team than trading Kreider.

100 percent. DeAngelo is here to stay, he is our 4th best player behind Panman, Zib and Igor

Stay tuned, Brooks has already formulated his list of deals which Gordon didn’t close according to his “sources”

NHL Network is a showing an AHL game. Like, why not have a round table with all these “insiders” on the eve of the deadline?

This STINKS. Someone do something.

I mean just because Kreider doesn't have a deal in place by tomorrow doesn't mean if we keep him we will for sure lose him in free agency too.

Pietrangelo is pending UFA too and we dont hear a word out of STL.

Many of the complaints about analytics have at least been attempted to be addressed and I think they do a lot better of a job than they did even just a couple of years ago. They’re still viewed too monolithically by “proponents” of them, but that’s a different problem and one I don’t think is really affecting teams.

That being said, declaring the rebuild over would seem to bely the whole thing about sample sizes. They’ve been improving and things look bright, but the rebuild is NOT over yet.

To the point you’re making in your commentary there, I actually agree that the impact of trading Kreider or Fast isn’t as big as people want to proclaim. It’s perfectly possible to become a contender without them.

Yes, the analytics have gotten increasingly better over the years. Where shots come from and their overall value being taken in helps a lot instead of just counting shots somewhat equally.

Also, I'm sure those comments are tongue in cheek when it comes to the rebuild being over, but the strides taken the last two months are starting to turn this team from rebuilding to playoff contender much faster than originally expected. Of course, Panarin being a top 5 player this season and Zibanejad jumping from a 1C to being a damn near elite player help, but the secondary and tertiary pieces on the team making stride is a huge part of the build being where it is.

Look, Gorton isn't trying to be cute. He is really just willing to re-sign Kreider on his terms. If that isn't happening, he is dealt. It's not the return value vs the contract terms, or if he can trade and sign him in July, or posturing to drive up value.

Gorton has always been painfully methodical and will drag this to the end. The next 24 hours belong to Kreider, maybe Fast gets wedged in at some point. It's so remote that an RFA is dealt with here. Maybe, maybe a slight chance Lundqvist finds a spot. It's just Gorton's M.O. to operate this way.

And other than 3 examples not named Keith Tkachuk, GMs don't deal away guys that they plan on re-signing. It's too risky. If Kreider is priced out of broadway, that door us shut.
