We don't really have a #3 LW, so Chytil could feasibly end up there instead of 3C. It's not like we NEED to open up a spot for LA, but we certainly COULD if he has a good camp. And sure, LA could even be that #3 LW. So could Lemieux, Kravty, or Goat. Options, options everywhere.

I'd prefer size, speed and more skill down the middle and between Lias and Filip---Filip's got more of those qualities. There's never been an issue with Chytil's skating and ability to move the puck up the ice. Both have some playmaking issues but Filip gets the edge there too. Size and strength go to Filip. To me he's just a better player.

We have a cluster of 4th line players and not enough 3rd line players that can contribute enough offensively.

Lemiuex, PDG, Fast, Howden, Gauthier are all bottom 6 players, and some with upside

Assume Strome is here as 2C and that designates Chytil in the 3C role, which I am good with him playing the scoring 3C role.

Then we also have Kravstov that we hopefully would be integrating sooner rather than later.

What do we have to supplement some scoring on that 3rd line? Seems like a mish mash

It's crazy to think of how one pick kind of slowed the rebuild. Lias had he become what he was supposed to, at this point would likely have made it possible not to keep Strome. Right now I dont see any way we don't, I'm not looking to get rid of him but if we could save that cap space for the next 4 or 5 years it would be a benefit.

I think Howden needs to restart in the AHL. We should have a fight in preseason for the 4C spot. Maybe bring in a vet on a PTO.

Gauthier-Chytil-Fast is a nice 3rd line. Lemieux-X-PDG is an okay 4th depending on the pivot.

This, of course, assumes we come to terms with Fast.

He would have to beat out Chytil by A LOT to end up there.

I feel confident in saying that Marc Staal would be the 6th best defenseman on the Hartford Wolf Pack rn. Smith at the very least is better than guys like Loverde and Ebert.

Maybe I am onto something, or just insane, flat out wrong, insensitive or a traitor ...

i love Hank but am firmly in the keep Georgie camp ...
My recent wondering has been whether, ..(with retention) ..,
.. (Henrik would) ..
be interesting to (and interested in joining) Flyers,
reuniting w AV, not far from NYC, family could stay put.
PF have no vet Gs signed behind Hart for next season;
and Giroux/Voracek/JVR are all in their early-30's 'late' prime

I think it's been well established that Henrik is not playing anywhere in the NHL.

I disagree. Chytil - Howden - Kakko was technically Chytil's most common ES line. Howden didn't have to beat him out in the slightest for it to simply be an option. Howdy has struggled pretty hard, but I did like that line a lot for a stretch there.

I was talking about Andersson, which is whom I thought you were talking about. But same goes for Howden. He would have to beat out Chytil by a lot to get that 3C slot.

None of Mittlestadt, Rasmussem, Tippet, or Vilardi, all taken right adter him, would have the rangers in any better position in that regard.

The 2017 draft had a clear drop off after the #6 pick, and we of course, had pick #7.

Not really bad luck, we traded for that pick. If we were to have traded for a top-6 pick, that would have been reflected in the price.

Tippet and Vilardi are really good prospects?

yep, we are all aware that Hank's preference has always been to be NYR for life.
Sometimes, as situations evolve, individuals change their mind.
His usage this season, and current events, might lead him to consider once unthinkable alternatives.
I was just "thinking out loud" re a move that might be less disruptive, and so more palatable, than many.
