Staal really hasn't been the same since he was destroyed by his brother. I think the puck to the face was bad, but he was still a positive impact on the team after that.

It sucks how far he has fallen, because he was a damn good defenseman for almost a decade

I agree he’s been struggling at times. But people on this board disrespecting the guy is a joke. I’ve been watching since 1975 and
Staal has been a top 10-15 Ranger Defenseman imho. He and Girardi were at one time our top pair.
He’s suffered some tough injuries and always gives his best effort. Model citizen as well. That deserves respect. Calling the guy crap our a scrub is ridiculous. I want to move toward youth as well but there’s no need to be disrespectful to the guy. He’s been a very good Ranger.

Again, the Rangers thought they were getting a first pair and first power-play unit guy. Trouba was not that, at least not this season. He has a no-move clause that kicks in July 1 (or the equivalent date if the offseason calendar is adjusted), so the Blueshirts would probably listen if someone comes knocking.

Not discussed enough. Inconceivable that his brother nearly ended his life, let alone his career. These guys are professionals at keeping it within the lines. Sure, you nail a guy you have an extra layer with...but brother on brother?...WTF???
