my concern with a potential ada/trouba pairing would be their usage....trouba is the guy you are giving the tough minutes to against the other teams top lines. thats not exactly the ideal match up for deangelo especially making him play on his offside. I know some will say 'well lindgren & fox should be playing that match up role" and eventually that might be true, but I think we sometimes overrate how advanced those 2 were as rookies and don't want them to be asked to do too much too soon.

Its an easy position to fill if were being honest.

ADA should be an option for the left side. I wouldn't put too much weight into an article written by someone who has proven to be a Pro-Staal guy.
This one's not by LB, but by Vince Mercogliano. I am unaware of his Staal position, if he has one.

37:09.

Their results together were great but obviously the sample size is tiny.
I would still like to see more of it. See how Tony responds to the challenge.

I hear what you’re saying but I don’t find it too risky to think Lindgren-Fox will improve with more games. They were getting a lot of that responsibility down the end there and the team just so happen to be playing well too. I’d say coming out of whatever happens here, they need to try giving Lindgren-Fox / ADA-Trouba and see how that goes.

Rykov, Hajek, Reunanen... that's where we're at, we haven't seen the truly ugly part of the rebuild... and we might not but I'm thinking next season will be all PROcess,

Rykov, Hajek, and Reunanen are just a fraction of what this team has constructed over the years...

Panarin
Zbad
Kreider
Shesty
ADA
Fox
Trouba
Buch
Strome
Chytil
Lindgren
Kakko
Georgiev
Hajek*
Rykov*
Reunanen*
______
Kravtsov
Miller
Lundkvist
Robertson
Jones

If you’re worried LD, then stop. It’s an easy position to fill, and we have a number of internal options there as well. Gorton also has an arsenal of valuable assets where he could trade for a LD to satisfy an inpatient pessimist like yourself.

Signing a prospect to an ELC doesn't limit us in any way. Adding another chip to the stack for that LD position on the top pair, hoping one of them will grow into that role, is a good thing. Eventually, the good prospects will push out the rest. Adding Farrance will lead to one of 2 scenarios:

- David Farrance turns out to be better than Miller/Robertson/Reunanen
- David Farrance turns out to be worse Miller/Robertson/Reunanen

If he's better, we are a better team for it. If he's worse, we didn't lose anything. You trade him for a mid-round pick to a team who has a need for him

Yea no brainer you sign the free prospect I’d you can . If he’s good you have more depth to deal a LD for another position like they did w Keane on RD

Then you could play Lindgren-Trouba against the top matchups and have DeAngelo-Fox murder the secondary matchups.

Tolvanen is as much a question mark as Lias at this point
Not that I’m necessarily advocating for it, but isn’t that kind of the point? Lias doesn’t really have value right now, so I’d trade him for another change of scenery dice roll

I wasn't making a case against it, but in favor of the trade proposal. It makes sense for all parties involved. Change of scenery type trade.

Sure. I have see Kole Lind be suggested as well. Change of scene winger is where I would be looking for

Well, sharpshooter, the OP said 'who would replace Staal?' I threw out a few consensus options..
don't quarantine so hard :)

Buchnevich, #23, Hajek/Rykov/Lias for Kirill Kaprisov. Would we do this (or something close)? Would Minny?

Whew, I thought you meant Fox when you said #23.

I would imagine that Minnesota fans, having anticipated Kaprizov’s arrival for years, would not see as a worthwhile trade. The Rangers also have little need for a top-six LW with Kreider and Panarin signed long-term.

Unless Kaprizov doesn't want to sign with Minnesota, I highly doubt they trade him. He's going to be a 70 point player in the NHL. Could be a 30-40 winger as soon as he steps in.

Kaprizov is essentially already signed with the wild. He's expected to sign 2 contracts, one for if the season returns & one for if it doesn't. He has already turned down a contract with the KHL team
