That means we’ve got a signed Kreider or a deal with Someone else is about done. That’s a plan b move clearly

Not necessarily. What if Boston just freed up cap space for a trade and re-sign of Kreider? They still have plenty of ammo to do so. I imagine Boston is certainly one team Kreider would commit to signing an extension right now.

Someone jokingly said Debrusk, but that's not "out there" if it's for an extended Kreider.

From who?

There's a lot we don't know. No one was able to exactly nail the packages for Nash, McDonagh, etc.

My eagerness is way more about whether they decide to re-sign Kreider than whether we'll be able to get a nice deal for him.

The “pro trade” crowd are going to lose their minds lol

I'd love to keep him. But it's not binary. Unless he takes a sweetheart deal, the will have a significant impact on their flexibility moving forward and simply beget other "difficult" decisions on other players we'd like to keep. Even if the return is muted in comparison to some of the wishful thinking on here, it simply doesn't make sense to keep him given the window (in my opinion).

If the Rangers can close on a deal to resign Kreider in the next day or two, do you think they trade Buch or Skjei at the deadline to open up some cap space or wait til the summer for that (when they may end up just buying out Henrik or Staal)?
Is there a world where the Rangers don't make any moves and hold onto Kreider, Fast, Georgiev, Henrik, Buch, Skjei etc.? If they don't make any moves, you'd have to think that they feel they have a shot at playoffs, otherwise why not move anyone?

I could be wrong but I don't think so. Two games aren't going to be enough to make Rangers brass decide we are contenders/at least push for the playoffs. They aren't going to be enough to make them break from the plan. Now, if we had 80 points... that might be a different story. But we don't.
Sure hope so.

Well no it’s absolutely relevant because that’s what my post you replied to was saying.

That Nobody wants him even if he wanted to go.

and frankly I don’t think he’s an improvement over any of those guys. More a wash than anything. Bobrovsky has been downright bad I’ll say that.
I was just using your post as a jumping off point. Seems a lot of people feel Hank is cooked and I disagree with that.

He's absolutely an upgrade on Holtby, Rinne, Bobrovsky and MAF this season. Talking player on the ice. If Lundqvist was on Vegas or Washington he would be better than Fleury and Holtby. Dude, Holtby has an .896 SV% on one of the best teams in the league! That's insane.

Hopefully it’s Skjei

So what do you think the odds are of the Rangers signing Kreider and then doing nothing else at the deadline to create cap flexibility for the summer?

I still think it's 60/40 he gets moved.

It's still about bridging the financial gaps. It's always been about agreeing on the money and term, and not about agreeing on whether both sides like each other.

So basically, Larry just tweeted what's been said on here.

Interest in resigning, but need to close gaps.

What are the gaps? That's the question. If they have agreed on AAV and term and are just haggling over no trade rights, then I'd say it's a done deal. If they are still far apart on AAV and term, he's a goner.

Even with the Kase deal, I wouldn't rule out Boston. Maybe Kase will be part of the deal for Kreider.
