Lets stop telling people to shutup in a speculation thread. This is what it’s here for. Bbk and Edge have their own lives and we shouldnt just sit around and wait for someone to feed them info for our own pleasure. You guys should just start a rumor thread where our vetted posters can post tidbits of info that wont get buried in this SPECULATION thread
I agree....lets start a post for our vetted posters.

Nothing is forever in pro sports. The Chargers and Rivers decided to go in separate directions last week after 16 years together. Tom Brady may not return to the Patriots. Manning retired.

Colorado would be a great spot for Lundqvist. Very good team. Nice area. Denver. Aspen. Vail. Lundqvist grew up skiing with his family in Sweden. He can take his kids skiing in Colorado.

The Rangers and Lundqvist have been talking about his future with the team. After months of speculation, we learned that today.

Father Pete always swung for the fences as Avs GM. He traded for Roy, Bourque, Fleury, Lemieux, Blake, etc. Sakic played for those teams. The Avs acquiring Hank and Kreider would be a Pierre Lacroix type of move.
Taking his kids skiing isn’t what this is about. FFS! If he lived in Miami he could go skiing whenever he wanted and that would probably mean the alps lol.

Move to Denver so he can be 1-2 hrs drive from the Rockies lol

I luv ya Rangerboy but whew that’s a reach!

I mean, this would be nice sentiment and all, but we’re ignoring the fact that Hank still costs $8.5M next year. I’ve always argued that it’s a mistake to pay a goalie that much, regardless of how good he is. People disagree with that, and I understand why. But paying an aging backup that much to mentor your next starter in a transition year where you are cap strapped is insane.

And I’ll also throw this out there one more time. If Hank’s role actually is mentor nowadays, why not have him retire and rehire him in the organization to specifically do that. Throw lots and lots of money at him to do so. Are there rules against that? Why don’t the rich teams figure out creative ways to wield their riches in a cap world?

So what would you do with Shesterkin then? Because if he is actually this good in a few years after his ELC is up, and after he is potentially bridged, he will command even more money than that.

I think the message being lost in this whole scenario is that Hank doesn’t want to be a backup/mentor next season, and I can’t blame him. He’s still an above-average-to-good NHL goalie.

That’s all I really have left to say on that matter because this situation sucks as a Hank fan. Just rip the band-aid off and move forward into the Shesterkin era.

This is a good point. It also kind of drives the trade discussion as well. What teams are in a playoff position, need Hank, and are willing to give him the bulk of starts? Carolina is the only team I can think of that sort of fits the bill and that requires a lot of cap maneuvering.

I guess the Avs fit that bill as well, but Grubauer was doing very well for them before he got hurt. Seems like they'd be putting themselves in a similar situation to what the Rangers are facing right now.

I'm not sure about this. Gorton has been pretty conservative in general, I'm not sure he wouldn't just bank the cap space and pounce when another option opens up
That would be smart of them to do but Edge mentioned on friday that if the team signs Kreider to a 7x7 deal, the chances of Hank being bought out are incredibly high

LOVE Domi but doubt the Rangers wanna slap another RFA on the roster, even if they shed Brady's contract.
we can ship another RFA like Buch if needed although I rather keep him. Domi would fit well on this non so physical team. it would save NYR some money especially dumping Skjei.

Lets try it again. We haven’t heard from @Edge for a while.

Number of things still in play, we'll see what materializes. Much easier to get team names than pinpoint player names:

Had multiple, if not lengthy conversations with St. Louis, Colorado, Boston, and Calgary.

Check in calls with Dallas,Vegas, and Toronto.

Buch is under contract next season and I am not sure Buch to Domi is that big of an upgrade?

Domi would be awesome on this team though, him and BL on a line would be just a joy to watch.

Domi is exactly what we need as 2c a physical beast

zib
Domi
Chytil

gives us depth and if zibs ext gets to costly or Chytil takes that 1c step were set for years to come

I like that our GM has an eye on playoff building, as opposed to Toronto's gm who is so focused on analytics that worked for him in junior that he has ruined a perfectly good rebuild even though he was handed star players to build around. Targetting forwards with size, speed and skill has been the mo of this GM and I like it

I like that its just not with Col and Bos. Need more teams to keep the value high considering that Sakic is stingy and Boston doesnt have a great pool to drop a hook into.

Also heard last night Florida was kicking tires.

Domi is a overhyped midget. There I said it. Montreal trying to make a run for playoffs and the guy has 3 points in like 15 games. No thanks.

any chance a deal around Brady Skjei and Max Domi

Rangers send Skjei to Habs, Max Domi back to NYR?

I do think Domi might be on the move. Not sure if it would be to NY, but theres seems to be some smoke there. Habs lost 5 in a row. Habs have some depth at C. Suzuki moved ahead of Domi on the depth chart this season. He is now also tied with Danault in pts, Danault is still the top line C there. Habs also have Kotkaniemi who is PPG in the AHL in a small sample size. I'm sure they aren't going to leave him down there for too long.

Domi is 1 yr removed from a 72 point season. He's pacing 48pt season on his 2nd year with the Habs. I guess the knock on him is with all of the creativity, and offense, can he play a 2 way game? I also feel like he's toned down his game a bit. Why? He's more effective when he's an ass! If he can't play that 2way game at Center, is a team is going to spend a lot of money on him to play on a 3rd line? Of course he would still get some PP minutes. Or, maybe...just maybe he better suited for a wing position? Either way, i think he is a very interesting name to be thrown into the mix.

I mentioned trying to trade for Domi and and a Hans fan mentioned he felt Domi was the dumbest player he’s seen. I was surprised and a few others didn’t think much of him either.

Have a feeling Domi would get the JT Miller treatment here. Some would like him, some will be calling him a bozo halfway into the season.

If a deal around he and Skjei is on the table, I'd think long and hard about it if another trade for a top 4 LHD was in the queue. Miller is not ready for the NHL. I wouldn't pencil him in to the big club any time soon. I can't say I'd be comfortable going into next season with Lindgren, Staal, and Hajek as the LHD corp.

This might be a case of "careful what you wish for" but i honestly think the end result wouldn't be significantly different.
