If we trade Kreider to the Islanders and he signs an extension there idk what I’ll do. That would be awful.

I wonder if that’s Kreider’s agent leaking Islanders interest being hot and heavy to force Gortons hand?

Idk even removing the fact the Islanders are a death rival, trading him to an in division team who is going to extend him would have to cost a huge price.

So what’s a Boston top offer look like ?

Always thought they’ve made the most sense w Gorton coming from there

W all these prices Is a 1st , Heinen , Frederic a good deal ?

What other Names?

The point to rentals may not be only Cup aspirations, any extra playoff round equate to dollars or even just showing improvement. For some markets that is more important than to others. Personally I think it's crazy to rent, always have even when it was the Rangers who were doing so, yet I understand it. To me it would be more about trying to guard against injury and not having a decent replacement for that position if an injury happens, or has already happened.

I believe his fancies say otherwise...he's been bad.

I could see Skjei being moved for the right price but it leaves the LD pretty vulnerable for now. Even if you think in the future it'll be better, for the present it's Staal, Lindgren, Hajek/Rykov which is pretty meh

I feel like you hope a guy like Newhook becomes as good as Kreider is today but the calculus is always now versus later and cost over the years and what your window of contention is. The Rangers could literally trade Kreider for a 1st and Newhook and still "lose" that trade in terms of impact if the 1st and Newhook don't turn out to be as good as Kreider

I don't think we could get Kreider for a 1st AND Newhook. Maybe a 2nd and Newhook. I'm even skeptical about that. He's such a solid A/A+ prospect. I'd looooove to get him. He was pretty high on my draft board rankings. I played around with the idea of Kredier and Strome for a 1st, Jost, Newhook, 7th (but of course!). I think the value is closer there but the Rangers take way more risk in that exchange. Jost might just need a change of scenery. I think I read in an article Colorado isn't pleased with his development but he's still only 21, same as Howden so they might just not be developing right. Or he needs more ice time. They probably should have kept him in the NCAA for a season longer than they did.

Moving Skjei is completely dependent on how confident the team is in Hajek and Rykov's development. If they are ready to play, they can stop gap until Miller and Robertson are ready. Or a 1 year UFA could be signed. ADA can also play LD and did so in the juniors. That might be an eventual solution when Lundkvist comes over. But back to Skjei, I feel like we'll move him eventually but I doubt right now. As you point out, our LD will not look very good. Especially with Staal/Smith/Skjei as our options (besides Lindgren obvs).

The most exciting thing, with the prices being set as they are, is that even if we keep Kreider we’d have to move multiple pieces to accommodate.

Would the return for Kreider alone be better than, say, Strome, Skjei, or TDA in separate deals?

Huge deadline for this team and the market could not be setting up in a more favorable way.

Kreider on the Islanders?

Yeah, I can't deal with that. Unless we destroy the trade and he leaves and comes back. Would become a hero at that point.
Omg could you imagine Kreider getting traded to the Islanders he does nothing and they lose in 4-5 games in the first round and then he re-signs here? It would be worse than Tavares lmao.

If they kept Kreider and moved Strome and Skjei, they might do just as well as if they moved Kreider.

I can’t even begin to imagine what it would take for the Islanders to have the best offer. Walstrom? Dobson? I don’t think it could be any less than at least one of those in order to make it palatable.

(2) 1sts and one of their top 3 prospects is the starting point. Sorry not sorry. f*** that team.
