Would you do this trade?

Rangers get a 2019 first round pick/ Pionk / Shattenkirk / no dead space in 20

or

Trouba signed for the next 8 years at 8 per.

Ugh. So sick of watching his pointless shots and lack of creativity...coupled with just malaise on the D end.

If we still had Pionk and Shattenkirk, we wouldn’t have both of Fox and DeAngelo in the NHL.

Unsung part of the Shattenkirk buyout was creating the room for those two to thrive. I was skeptical about Fox being NHL ready before the season, but this worked out.

Don't you mean czar
I mean the original tweeter, not the replier who used to post here. That Black and Blueshirts guy and his handful of minions base their entire hockey identity around hating Lundqvist. It's tired and stupid.

Early in his career and he was elite they hated him for his outside of hockey life, then he was still elite and they hated him for his contract, then he was still elite and they hated him because Talbot and Raanta would've been better for cheaper (lol) and now that he's slipping below his prior level of play at the end of his career (although still a solid NHL goalie) they act like they're right (they're not) and have always been right (they haven't) and are somehow vindicated now. It's stupid and frankly if you flat out hate Lundqvist like that idiot and his handful of minions do then you're just an unintelligent and stupid fan. It's one thing to want to move on from Hank now at this point in his career, but to think he's been overrated his whole career and he's the reason we never won a cup is asinine. But that's the garbage these trashbags proliferate across the fandom. It's embarrassing honestly.

ADA can reportedly play the left side. Could've used the same space to buy out Staal and Smith.

Assuming trade reversed and buyout switched:

ADA/Shattenkirk
Hajek/Pionk
Lindgren/Fox

Plus we'd have Heinola and the return for a very marketable Skjei.

Assuming Shattenkirk revived his play here the same as with TB, we could've flipped him at TDL.

Development of ADA and Fox in itself is not enough of a reason for the trade.

I didn’t say it was. I didn’t even imply it. I was just saying it worked out well.

There’s no doubt that the Trouba trade forced them into a situation where they only had a bunch of bad options. They went with the simplest.

Let's be serious here, no one knew ADA would be playing as well as he is, let alone do it playing the full season on the left side, something he has never done to my understanding.

Rangers should make that trade 10 out of 10 times. You dont even know who they would draft at #20.
Brooks reported he has earlier experience playing LD. He's only playing LD on the PP right now.

#20 - thats a good point. Suzuki, Tomasino and McMichael also on the board at #20.

So after the ‘high’ of back to back wins against the Isles, the team is still sitting at 24th in the league with a couple of games to play prior to the all star break. The team has some games in hand but that means they will have more games squeezed into the 2nd half which means they’ll be playing fresher teams on some nights.

I on the other hand are sick and tired of reading clueless posts like this where people are going out of their way to try and blame someone for things that he’s not responsible for, or out of his control.

Posts like this make it easy to identify who’s feedback is worth reading, versus skipping.

It’s amazing to me how under appreciated a Trouba is. I’m watching f the game on delay and I can already count 8 really good defensive plays by Trouba through 2 periods. He stops so many sequences and he plays a ton of minutes.

That’s the thing with ignorance. Those posters neglect any positive and go out of their way to find mistakes. They literally, nitpick to try and prove their failed points.

The really funny thing is, is how they ignore all the garbage plays their favorite players make.

lol tell us how you really think

I’m hopeful we make smart decisions salary cap wise along with protecting our assets. We have straight up lost the Trouba trade all of us were so giddy about (Pionk has improved tremendously). Would love to have that 8M back.
Pionk, ADA, and Fox would all get manhandled playing the minutes Trouba is every night against the other teams best players. It’s sad you’re unable to identify something so easy, a caveman can see it.

not a playoff team

as JD had said prior to the season, some of these kids might not be ready to win. Can’t rush it. For all the prospects which were hyped up in Stamford last Spring, only Fox is playing well. The rest, including Kappo, are developing.

Maybe they wouldn't have to because we'd have better overall depth?
:dunno:

BTW: Pionk averages 23:17 TOI/GP this season, the most of any Jet, and is a +6. Second best +/- of all Jets skaters.

Trouba…. 23:08, -7. Worst +/- of all NYR D.

But don't mind this caveman. :m-dance:

The team has been playing better of late and they have a pair of gimmies coming out of the break but they're not a playoff team.

This isnt like last year where they hung around outside of the bubble because they won a ton of games that they had no business winning and other teams just refused to take the ball and run with it - Those teams are already pulling away this year.

What I don't want is for the FO to stand pat because they're "close" and being in a race will be "beneficial." Their schedule is jam packed between the break and the deadline (13 games) which will give them a chance to "get back in it." 10-3 is probably the minimum for them to be in realistic striking distance for a spot, but we'll see how the FO feels. I haven't really liked some of the comments from JD, but people say all kinds of shit.

not sure that I believe that...we've gotten really good goaltending and panarin is a god. and with all of that we are still 4th worst in the conference...we are a mini-slump from panarin away from being a bottom 5 team.

this team has been lots of fun to watch but I'm reminded of the 2001-02 team that was lots of fun to watch but was built on smoke and mirrors and then took a nose dive in the standings

Yeah it was a big mistake to assume the problem is with the players instead of checking on the incompetent coaching staff. Also I don't get how they gave Trouba such contract when he was desperate to play for NY.

Oh and we ended up trying to screw ADA on the contract and in the end screwed ourselves really bad.
