Speculation: Roster building thread XXIII: Heading into doldrum days and All Star break

Bash fans all you want and claim you would do the same for Eli Manning. It’s about the business of hockey not theories about being an idol to a kid, a class act, has done so much and keeping a player around for merely sentimental reasons. The team has 3 goalies on the active roster for obvious reasons which supersedes all these theories about being haters, condescending or whatever else fits your narrative.

Big game tonight - healthy Hank is still not playing. I guess the Rangers don’t get it right?
 
Ola you must have a lot of faith in newhook if you think he's ready to fill a role on this team that sees the ice 22 minutes a night.

so you trade for kapanen and kostin and then immediately turn around and trade them away in bad deals for less value?

Like I said, you can't understand the concept behind what I'm trying to convey for whatever reason. I haven't "bashed" fans at all - I've said you can be as condescending as you want to be but you still don't "get it". And, clearly above, this remains to be true.

I think I've been pretty clear about all of this. Post about trading Hank. Post about buying him out. Post about whatever the hell you want. Doesn't make you a hater. What makes you a hater is posting stuff like "Good, I hope this messes with Hank's head" or "Hank is an AHL goalie at this point". It's not about who is starting tonight, who started last night, who has started the most, who deserves to play, who should be traded, who has what cap hit, who should be on the team, etc...

It's about doing so with respect to a guy that's given everything to this franchise and has taken the absolute high road through this rebuild and still waxes poetic about the organization. "Fans" shouldn't be taking a dump on him like that which is mutually exclusive from having adult conversations about what's best for the Rangers.

Do you f***ing get it yet?

Also, acquiring Dumba gives us 4 RD, cap blown. And why is Greenway a 1st line LW? On Minnesota, he's a 4th line LW.

We have all posted about trading, buying out etc. Blinded by your own narrative, you dismiss it all with he has a NTC, class, etc he’s taken the high road, etc, (nonsense/lies as i never posted he’s an AHL goalie, messing with Hank’s head, etc. lol) all to fit your narrative.

I've seen this suggested here before and I don't know how accurate is. Hank is pretty vocal out there, loves telling the young D what to do and chewing out the bench. Seems supportive of Geo and Shesty whenever they're on camera together.

I never said that those were posts from you. My opening post, specifically, quoted the poster who said he hoped the Rangers were messing with Hank's head. Scroll back and read it. I posted another example of the type of nastiness towards this player that really isn't necessary and is completely undeserved - we can have whatever conversations we want about his future and the paths that that might take.

I'm not even sure I've taken a definitive position anywhere about what's best for the Rangers® moving forward with regards to Lundqvist and the Rangers - so there really isn't a "narrative" that I'm espousing. Presently, I'm probably thinking Shesterkin as a starter, Georgiev traded if what's coming back is good enough, and Hank as a backup through 2020-21 because, frankly, I don't think he's retiring and I'm not sure there's a "good deal" to be had for trading him in the unlikely event that he waives his NMC. If Shesty underperforms I have no problem with Hank getting looks and competing for the starting position.

All I'm saying, for the 52nd time, is that we can talk about all of that without expressing vitriol towards a player that has given so much to this franchise and has done so about as well as can be expected from a future Hall of Famer. You're not a bad Rangers fan if you think the Rangers are better served by trading him, buying him out, etc... I've never said that.

I’m hopeful we make smart decisions salary cap wise along with protecting our assets. We have straight up lost the Trouba trade all of us were so giddy about (Pionk has improved tremendously). Would love to have that 8M back.

There's no binary between trying to play well yourself and being supportive for someone else. Just being around a guy who you idolize and watching him prepare, play, etc can be helpful.

I'm not saying keep Hank for that reason, the point is there are more factors in this than people are recognizing.
