They don’t need to be buyers in order to add cap
Not buyers but perhaps a team that takes a bad contract or two to make bigger deals. If, for example, we dealt with Edmonton, we could take a bad contract to help make a deal.

we've all speculated on this for a while now. They haven't seemed as interested in that route as we have, and after the Panarin/Trouba signings I don't know that we'd take on anything that wasn't expiring this season, which wouldn't be much savings at all for the other team. Next season is our buyout penalty season, there will be no breathing room for that kind of a contract, let alone the ones we'll need to be able to give. Regardless, it shouldn't make the difference in having Beleskey up as opposed to McKegg/DiG.

I think there's a much simpler answer to why Beleskey hasnt been called up: one or both of Quinn and Knoblauch don't like his game, and/or he has given up trying to make the big club and is playing out the last days of this contract. Its not a great answer, but it is supported by his stats this season, and by Quinn's usage of a fourth line.

I think it’s difficult to judge interest. I’d say that it’s obvious what they have asked for in return for helping hasn’t been met. That may change this year or it may not.

How would we have room for a bad contract next season? What is the savings for the other team if we take on an expiring contract at TDL? The ship has sailed.

With the break coming up, I think Hank will start one of those games, with Shesty starting the other.
Georgiev has to start the Islander game! Shesty should really start tomorrow. No way I play Hank against the Islanders.

It doesn't have to be a bad contract. I mean, we've been talking about the possibility of Georgiev going to Toronto for one of Kapanen, Johnsson or Kerfoot. Any one of them would add to our cap.

Gorton isn't going to bring Beleskey up until after the trade deadline. He isn't going to use up cap space that he might need to make a deal. The slight upgrade he might provide isn't worth it. It has nothing to do with them not liking him. He's just less valuable than the cap space.

I get the argument, but I also don't think they are going to let Hank sit for that long. We'll see what happens, I guess.

We're also probably moving Kreider, Fast and others, and we're starting off with a 7 million cap cushion. Taking on reasonable contracts at TDL wouldn't solely account for the decision between two players making 750k and 1.9 million right now or anytime after moving Namestnikov.

If Georgiev didn't play this many games, they could have swapped Shestyorkin and Georgiev as he would still be waiver exempt. Now we are in a situation where we have 3 goalies, and Lundqvist hasn't started a game in 18 days

This was done intentionally.

They are gently sending the old man a message.

Playing out exactly as they envisioned I'm sure.

that would have been my plan going into the season to take advantage of georgiev's waiver status while we good. but the problem was his play never warranted sending him down. which opens up a number of considerations about his development...sending him down would have basically been saying that you just view him as a placeholder till shesterkin is ready. and if thats the case then just trade him and don't worry about it. but if you view him as an equal competing for the future #1 spot you can't send him down.

and how fast he got to his game limits wasn't really the issue cause the way shesterkin played in hartford, he probably would have been called up alot sooner if we didn't have 2 goalies. if there was ever a plan to do this, they could have easily just called him up sooner to make it happen. but they actually did the opposite for some reason and waited until right after he passed the threshold and then called him up.

How do you not start Georgie for next weeks Islander game? He's 4-1 vs them with something like a .955 Save % and a 1.30 GAA.

I mean he's basically kryptonite for Islander sticks. You have to play Georgie just based on principle...lol

Hank is just going to have to slowly but surely accept that his time as "the man" is over here. That doesn't take away a damn thing from all the great things he has done for us over the year but eventually the passing of the torch needs to occur even for a future Hall of Famer.

We all know how competitive Hank is but he knew full well that we were in a rebuild and that there were some promising goalies in the system in particularly Shesty. The evolving of Georgie likely has taken not only us as a fan base by surprise but also team brass as I don't think anyone anticipated he'd be this good.

Bottom line Hank needs to sit in the press box and keep cashing his huge checks every two weeks and if he wants to play regularly, he needs to drop his no trade clause and allow Gorton to trade him a team like Colorado for example who is poised to make a Cup run if they want some insurance for a Grubauer.

ended up .824 for today...6 goals on 34 shots and most of them were really bad goals. as crazy as it sounds 6 goals against might not do justice to how bad he looked.

the way he was moving so slowly on some of them. i wouldn't be surprised to hear he is either sick or injured. definitely looked like something was wrong with him
