People really need to forget about Newhook.

I actually would prefer the package. I threw out Newhooks name to avoid getting decapitated by people saying “Newhook better be coming back for a package like that!”

Georgiev for Kapanen + 3rd
Kreider for Jost + 1st or Heinen + 1st
Lias + Tyler Wall + 4th for Andreas Anastasia

AA Zib Buch
Panarin Strome Kapanen
Jost/Heinen Chytil Kakko
Lemieux Howden Fast

Skjei Trouba
Lindgren Fox
Staal Deangelo

Skjei can be moved in the offseason

EDIT: Skjei for Tuch; Buch for Nurse in the offseason could be a good couple swaps as well. Nurse is going to cost, contract-wise, a decent amount, but likely projects as a solid upgrade over Skjei, and Tuch has good cost control for years to come

Why is Detroit moving a 25 year old top-6 wing, pending RFA, in the middle of rebuild? Not even mentioning that the package proposed there is essentially valueless.

Skjei+Kravtsov+Geo for Nylander+ would be a very favorable deal for the Rangers, I'd have trouble seeing Toronto wanting to do it. But hey if they really are interested in it I hope the Rangers jump on it.

I would love both scenarios, but don’t see either one happening.

Talk with literally any Detroit fan, they aren't keeping him

Or, just read the first page where BBK outright said that there have been talks around AA for Lias+

Or just continue crapping on others without reading, what do I care

NYSPORTS is inside Leaf fans heads.
Would Edmonton really move Nurse? He seems like a guy you pay a premium to keep on a team like that.I guess McDavid and Draisatl contracts lead to harder decisions than GMJG has to deal with. If only Chiarelli were still there to be fleeced one last time.

They have high profile defensemen coming up in the system and don't want to pay a premium for a guy that they don't see as a Top 30 D maybe

Serious question, what is so great about Athanasiou? 19 points in 36 games this year. He’s mainly a 40 point forward with speed. His next contract will more than likely be pretty expensive for what he brings as well. When you start factoring these things in, his overall value isn’t that high.
Well, I guess the hope would be that he meshes well in a new system with different players. He has scored 30 before, and I see him akin to Grabner almost. Which I'd be happy with. He has 2 more years of RFA control as well. At the very least it is a solid stop gap player, but has the potential to become something more (i.e. Strome)

Mirtle believes the Rangers will have a tough time getting a quality young NHL player for Georgiev and they will have to lower their price. He believes Gregoriev’s value is hurt by the expansion draft. An NHL executive called Georgiev “intriguing”.

Mirtle needs to take a closer look at the goaltending situations around the NHL. There is not a better option than Georgiev. He could start on many teams as their #1. He is the best goaltender on the Rangers. So many teams don’t have a goalie worth protecting in expansion. We will see. The Rangers should wait until the summer.

Georgiev is three years away from Group III. Talbot was a different case. He had signed a one year contract extension during the 14-15 season. He could not sign another contract until January 1st of the 15-16 season. Talbot had just a one year contract and then he was unrestricted.

the 3 goalie system and everyone knowing that we need to move a goalie no doubt is hurting his value but the expansion draft has zero impact. we'd have no issue protecting him with Hank a free agent and Shesterkin exempt. I don't think Mirtle actually took the time to look it up and is mistaken

Reading their board, I'm pretty surprised at how low Detroit fans value Athanasiou, but I still don't see why Yzerman would be considering moving him at this stage for so little.

When BBK said "and another asset" I interpreted that to mean something with decent value. Not a college goalie or a 4th round pick. College goalies are good internal assets, but they have no trade value. Frankly, I'd also be shocked if the Rangers traded Andersson as the centerpiece of a deal that returned a legitimate NHL player.

you know what I’m not sure it matters who’s on the 4th line. I just don’t think Quinn likes to roll 4 lines much. Think he just likes to ride his top lines.

not sure how we can draw this conclusion when Quinn has never had a 4th line to use. not playing Haley, McKegg and Lias cause they suck ass isn't proof that he wouldn't play the 4th line if he had a good 4th line. we just have zero depth right now thanks to the cap crunch...

my theory is that the team isn't overly worried about bottom 6th depth because we've proven time again and again that we have no problem finding and developing those players. it is the top end players that have been the issue...when the time comes finding 4th line talent won't be an issue

I want a top 10 pick which was drafted already over the past 2 years. Pref a centerman

Yeah, I don't see the appeal either. Seems like a Max Afinogenov redux.

I think his idea is that other teams are worried about the expansion draft, rather than the Rangers. They don't want to give up a lot for someone that would cause a difficult choice at the expansion draft.

That being said, I think the premise is still flawed. If you look at many of the teams rumored to be interested in a goalie and they don't have anyone else they'd absolutely have to protect (i.e. Andersen is a UFA after the expansion draft anyway).
