Kreider doesn't want out.

Situation is not the same
No I get that. But he might have as few approved destinations for a sign and trade as trouba had.

That’s what I meant.

And also that trouba is RD and Kreider a winger, abeit one of the more unique wingers in the game

what they hey re Offer Sheet Comp

for months we have seen that up ~$4.05M, comp was just 1 2d

this caps that low level of comp at $3.36M

Arizona is not income tax free although 4.5% max probably feels like free to those of you back east.

Coyotes were quietly offering a Stepan around theleague a while back but ownership change may have slowed that down.

Arizona certainly makes sense though for many reasons.

One of the biggest differences between Trouba and Kreider is that Kreider is signed for next year at a reasonable rate. He could also be flipped at the deadline if no contract deal was likely.
Oh good point. Trouba didn’t have a contract at all, he could of been threatening to hold out if a team traded for him. He didn’t have to sign

Where are Kreider is signed. That makes Kreider’s value higher in some respects.

Good point

If Buchnevich is available, I could see him garnering that type of return as well from a team later in the round.

I'm not sure that deal is worth it for the Rangers though. As you get into the back end of the first round the odds of picking a guy as good as Buchnevich start getting slim. As part of a package for a higher pick? Sure, but straight up for a late 1st doesn't seem worth it.

e: it's basically not the kind of deal the Rangers need to make with a player like Buchnevich. He's still young enough and will be cheap enough that they don't need to be in a hurry to move him just for a late pick

Hm, interesting. Nice to spot that BTW, didn’t think about it when I read that.

Does Gorton envision that he can deal Shatty at the draft?
Vegas

Gorts helps them get some flexibility. They take shattenkirk with some rentention and depending on whether we receive a forward or D in the deal, if we need to fill the roster, he gets kept, otherwise flipped.

Shattenkirk to Vegas
Miller to rangers
(If the rangers trade Ada, let’s say in a package deal for ghost, then miller takes that RS slot, if not, then use him in a package deal for nylander)

Maybe the rangers pull off a dream scenario after all.

Panarin
Nylander
Ghost

Financially they could get it done correct?
And assets wise, they could get it done correct?

I don’t see the rangers passing up the opportunity to do all of this in one fell swoop if the opportunity in fact arise.

This could be a one year turnaround

Sign perry. He’ll be to this group of rangers what shanahan was to the previous core.

2 year deal let gorts/perry decide on the $$

We talked Backes for Staal or Shatty quite a bit in this thread during the season. It made sense prior to the Rangers acquiring Trouba and Fox. Now that Trouba and Fox are NYR's property it makes a ton of sense.

I’d sign Perry if he’s take a short deal at around $3m. Net front guy to help replace Kreider on the PP

That's the only place Perry would be good offensively. Slot presence, RH shot. KK on the Right half Wall. Trouba on the umbrella, Zibs in the bumper, and Fox on the right off-wing wall.

That's a PP that's going to score.

I am sorry but who is going to carry him to the slot? This guy has played hard for a long time, and his body is done. He can't skate even close to the speed of the game anymore. I say we let him be and put BL in the slot as a big body.

You’ll need two guys who play that role. I believe Kreider is going to be traded so that’s the guy who has done it in the past. Perry has had that role for a long time. Let Lemieux learn from him

I'm out here on the West Coast and have seen Perry a bunch this year. I'm a little shocked at how much his game has slipped. Not sure if he's injured. Worn down or what. But a lot of what makes him great is not really there anymore. He reminded me of Eric Staal during his brief stint with NYR. The puck was a bit of a grenade on his stick. The only reason to add a guy like him is really vet presence. Teach the kids the right way to prep and handle yourself as a pro. But I dunno if he's the right guy for that. I would not give him 3m unless we were completely done with off-season moves and he's still unsigned come training camp. And even then, I'd worry about him eating up 3m. That said, I'd be into it if it was a 1 year deal and he showed some improvement during the season -- then you can offload him at the deadline for a 2nd rounder or something.

According to Edge, Shattenkirk has been offered around with 50% retention and no one has been interested. That could change as other options come off the market, but if it does happen, don't expect to get a 2nd round pick. And for an offer sheet, we can't use any 2nd round pick. It has to be OUR pick, and that pick is currently tied up in the Adam Fox trade conditions.

To add to this, so it doesn't look like I'm just freestyling and trying to pop anyone's balloons:

"The Rangers have found essentially no interest in Smith or Shattenkirk on the trade market, even with a 50% contract retention. It is possible the Blueshirts could move Shattenkirk in return for taking on an odious contract, but it doesn’t seem likely they would go that route."

https://nypost.com/2019/06/11/rangers-arent-shying-away-from-buyouts-this-summer/

The only thing I disagree with is that the Rangers are oppossed to taking on a contract. It would just have to be a similar contract.
